There is no law dictating how or what we pray for, so Zhiguang is going to be the next Hua Cheng. I can’t wait to see that. I have not read the novel. Funny, I have books, really for many “shows/movies”, but I have a fear. I have never read any novels for BL. Reading for me is like watching for you. I have a well-used library card, with one of the best libraries in America, they have BL manhua right on my computer. If I find that I am not hooked right away, that bitch gets tossed. So, for any and all of Mo’s creations, I have only watched what there is, and read the manhua, which is reading yes, but not just words. This happened to my Stephen King many years ago. I love horror, but the books read like technical cold manuals for installing toilet paper holders. Boring! Believe me, I have been reading nonstop since 1972, I love to read, but if I am unable to latch on, or just can’t create the BL sphere when I start, I will plumet like Icarius and fail to rise again. I don’t think I prefer which side of a couple I like, or which one draws my attention the most. Often, I am uncertain of which is the top and which is the bottom. Shallow as all get out, I am pulled most by the prettiest one. So for me it would be Hua Cheng. I put off so many shows that once I went back to finally watch them, I just wanted to slap myself because some were so good. I put China off for so long. I don’t even remember which was my first Chinese show, but I was not impressed to say the least, so I removed all the ones I had put on my Plan to Watch list. I also love Sci Fi, Mystery, Fantasy, Mythology and Period shows. I watched Yin Yang Master when it first came on Netflix, but my first Chines show just did not live up to anything I imagined. I kept seeing everyone talking about The Untamed and how it was the best BL and I started watching, did not get hooked and killed all the Chinese on my list again. But the one that got me was The Fairy Fox set. That is not popular with many people, but I really loved it. So, after coming back to The Untamed, still not getting into it, I tried one called Birth of a Drama King, got hooked, then Word of Honor, I am surprised it is NOT Mo, then went back and finally got hooked on TU and cried when it ended. Did all the other movies in between too . So my approach is always that at the end I will have watched something wonderful. I have not been disappointed with any show yet, have found I did put off some of my favorites though. One of the first Chinese shows I looked at was Advance Bravely, just finished it a few weeks back, LOVED IT SO MUCH! And it’s really kind of a stupid one, but true love non the less. I really do not read a lot before watching, as I previously stated that some of my favorites had many unloved comments by others. That is fine, I do not begrudge anyone their opinion or thoughts on shows, but I do not allow that to sway me. It is only after I watch that I look at what others say. During if I am caught up in a character or on actor draws my attention I research or investigate. I don’t follow actors and watch everything they do because subject matters most. I have put IFYLITA on my currently watching list and set it up in my YouTube. I can watch time travel, I just put it off then BAM! Hooked and loving it. Yes, SK too had a great year. I loved all the fluff from SK. WR You Thai was my first BL, so was not unhappy with the SK remake. Some were because the story was so different. No thoughts on the wokeness. As usual I take a 3rd route to most things. So, not woke, but was never asleep and just doing me takes all my time. I do notice no one is Gay in Thailand. Everyone is fluid and just chooses to be with someone of the same sex. I guess I am okay with that as long as I have pretty Asian guys to look at I’m good. TWM is also on my list and I will hunt to watch. I do not have to book for ALoN, they removed the Censored tag sometime in the last 7 months because it was there last year. I have found crap on my Plan to Watch list, no idea how it got there, so I go through my list often just checking for side shows I missed or something to watch and at that time was going through and did not see the Censored tag, so wacked it off. I just watched it last week, found it again first because it was a mystery, then it showed up on a list of Censors not to miss. Just Bromance do get me on board. You got to bring something along with it. However, with ALoN there is no doubt both have feelings for the other. Some people commented they did not even think they liked each other. Shows we all have different perspectives when watching the exact same thing. I will have to find that book to not read. Da Feng Gua Guo, she has 2 other shows coming before time ends I hope. Both look promising.

I do believe the Chinese will lift the ban one day, and I don’t think the dream is empty to think that Zhiguang would play the part. Gong Jun is not the only one, but they are few for sure. Thailand is big on partnering, Taiwan is getting on board with that as well now, they had a phenomenal year in BL, but I don’t see China allowing anyone to really be aligned with gay life, perpetuating phantom ships, to many questions might come up and they really do not want anyone talking about it, so that may also be a distant future event. I do not have anything further at this time with Zhiguang, nothing on the list tripped my trigger, I will happily wait for him to star to watch. But I will go back and see if I can rethink after they drop entirely. I have changed my mind quite often. I only know Liu Yu because of the music. I have been into Asian pop for a few years now, that is how I found BL, and I like Opera, Chinese opera is a class act, and really Japanese is too. I am unfamiliar with other countries, but these 2 are done so beautifully it will make you cry. The color, movements and the stories are amazing. I too love Lian, don’t get me wrong, I am not writing him off, I am just saying that after about the 5th or 6th time of watching, I realized he has few lines and is the center of attention, but the story is about all the people around him who love him and the pure and undying love of Hua Cheng of course. Even the Emperor of Heaven loves him, so the story is about Lian, but only with respect to the way others feel about him. At least that is my perspective. No matter how you look at it, it is a work of art, a masterpiece, and my favorite Mo. I find most, not all, Thai BL to be campy, way too campy. It is almost like they want to laugh far too much so no one feels uncomfortable. Dinosaur Love almost killed me. Japanese BL can be irritating. I think they often go on the premise of misunderstanding. I am quite fond of Taiwanese BL, 2023 was a stellar year for them. I need to put out my Scenes list. Jun and Jun is one of my fave SK shows, and Semantic error is high on my list as well. The Eighth Sense too. I have Conan Gray’s Story on 10 different play lists on my Spoify. Love that song. Together with Me? If that is not on my list it should be so I will research that to make sure I don’t miss it. Feel you linger in the air also should be there. I am weird about how I watch things. Currently airing shows I watch weekly, if I miss the first episode I might put it off for a year. I add things to my planned, then go through and hack some out. Funny, but when I found BL, I thought I needed to watch everything ever made. Then decided I hated the Chinese shows so I did not watch my first Censored for maybe a year. I have only found 2 Filipino shows so tend to put them off and on my list I have to be in the mood for some things. Also, I usually will get 2 or 3 sites and then watch them dry, let the sub go, get 2 or 3 different sites for a quarter or 6 months. I will finish up many when I get my IQIYI back in June. I will let my Viki and GaGa go till December. Same with all the others. I only have so much time. I will however put Together with Me on my watch list starting next weekend. It is out on YouTube so will binge that for 2 or 3 days. I feel you linger, that is time travel, right? I have put Vice Versa off for 2 years and watched the first episode 6 times and just can’t get with it. Absolute Zero too. The worst is Two Worlds, because I am a Domundi Freak and I will probably never watch it. But, will give much effort to trying I feel you linger, and. maybe I feel you Linger will be the one to get me hooked.

Don't say its just a dream, because if one company cannot make it happen another surely will. The Untamed was such a hit PLANETARYLY, there are still huge fan clubs of both WY and XZ, so I believe it will happen eventually. I am familiar with Liu Yu, not from acting but from his group INTO1. It was the most diverse Asian group I have ever seen. Chinese, Japanese, Thai, American, German and I can't remember what else. I think he also did Opera at one time. I think the character of Lian would not be as difficult to find the right someone for because if you really read or watch, the story is almost everything but Lian. All the greatest parts are about San Lang and if full on love for Lian. But, still all that aside we will keep praying to see Zhiguang in another great series. The Spirealm will be most challenging to top for sure. I think Zhiguang could very well be on the lines of Tom Cruise or Keanu Reeves. He would make a great action star. I just don't want him to settle into doing the rom-com or rom anything. It doesn't have to be BL or Censored, but not romance.
I have noticed Mo likes to make her couples so opposite end of the spectrum so to speak. Its not a weak strong thing, which I think is how most of the world views couples. But thinker/doer, extravert/reserved and high energy/passively calm I do love her total package coupling. I like the concept that a couple makes a whole, so each filling in the others shortcomings, but I very much dislike one person taking care of another. This is the one issue I have with Thai shows, they have the concept that one must care for and protect the other, but yes, Mo knows how to couple. I find it hard to believe that she has only done the 3 basic works in 10 years. New work is Grime Reapers have no days off is set to hit sometime this century, I hope. Yes, Adulting is necessary, just irritating. Oh, I am so glad you like League so far. Yes, there are some very funny scenes. I did not research that one to see if there are other works by the author, I am hoping. This is one that was off and on my list too. I have a horrible fear of missing something fantastic, that might be why I rarely give up on most things. I happen to peruse your list last night and found Blue Boys, I watched the first 3 episodes; it is cute and quick. I find SK series are hit or miss with me. Great scripts and acting, but pitiful love scenes (sometimes). They are not like the Chinese, so got to have the love scenes be more than 2 dead fish kissing to get the full picture.

OMG!!!! I WAS SO WRONG!!! Yes, yes, yes, Zhiguang WILL make a fabulous and perfect San Lang. Now, who should we find to be his Xie Lian???? I really like Song Ji Yang, he has a very ethereal sense about him and he is tall but slight and he did great in The Untamed and The Birth of a Drama King. Or keep Zhai Xiao Wen cause he and Zhiguang were in R1SE together. They are the same height, but like you said, that really is not a big deal. I love the visuals on the manhua. Especially the ones between the volumes. Phenomenal is the correct word to use. Now I think I will go and make myself a background for my computers and phone with all the art work. Yes the anime will never hold up the art, but beggars cannot be choosers when it comes jonesing for Mo's work. Want me to light a stick in my shrine? I would give almost anything to meet Mo and attempt to discern how she brings her characters to life.
I am not sure if it is patience. I have just found that in the before times, I misjudged things, anything really and later found out I missed out, so I have no issue saying "NOPE, this shit ain't for me right now" and then circling back later to try again. I have given up on a few, but usually I find a little shinning gem a little ways in. Like Untamed, it took awhile, but once I found that little something I gave up sleep, meals and PTO to finish it.

Yes, age is nothing but a thing and basically I’m 12 to 16 most of the day so we’ll go with that. I am unable to get the link at work on my phone but will check that out tonight. oh yes I feel like Zhiguang can do anything his talents are vast and varied. I know him from rise as well as X9 singing is great dancing is also great. I fell in love with K-pop because of the choreograph dancing and the quality of the songs, of course but I do like a good visual back in the day. Lotta dancing going on I think because I have, watched the animated version of heaven officials blessing As well as read all 101 chapters on MangaBuddy. so when thinking about San Lang I just picture someon, but I could imagine it and Zhiguang would be great. The visuals out on manga Buddy are so enthralling again, I think all that goes back to Mo and her absolute slam dunk of everything she writes you know sometimes it takes me three or four episodes of a new series 2 really find something that catches my interest. I’m not sure if beginnings are always difficult in things so interest is something that I necessarily have an everything I look at in the beginning. This is why I put things off. I see one episode. I put things off and then I don’t re address until a later time. Maybe I look at it again and think differently and try to proceed where I ended, like I said before the untamed stayed in my box for a year and it probably took me two or three months just to get the first 10 episodes watched. I’m dictating this so if I have run-on sentences, I’m sorry. You will not go wrong with ancient detective

Not sure of our age difference, but I am over the hill and slowly sliding to the next life, so time is of no value in the sense that how I spend my minutes is irrelevant. I do not have the need to make them count as I have lived my life doubling every second. I can appreciate those who spend on quality. League should not disappoint as there are no over acting characters and every emotion looks and feels genuine. Much political intrigue and twisty through out with an ending that will be appreciated. I rate most things 9 or 10 going back to I would never want to sway someone from not watching because of my opinion. Yes, The Untamed is the golden standard, I have all the books, and a shrine to Mo, cause she is worthy. Once a month I waddle to Crunchy and watch 2 seasons of Heaven Officials Blessing; and yes, daily I pray and go to MDL's Eternal Faith just to see if maybe a modern miracle has occurred. I have not thought about who would best fit these roles, although I like Zhiguang, I feel like he is just not large enough to play San Lang and not pretty enough to play Xie Lian. But he is gorgeous and a most splendid actor! So will hope your dream comes true.
Try Ancient Detective, the martial arts are superb, the acting is beyond, but the ending will BLOW YOUR MIND! I have not been that floored since The Sixth Sense.
Let me know what you think of any of my recs. Yes, please friend me or message me at will.

AWWWWW shucks, was so hoping I had missed a gem, but no worries. I am not really picky at all. At one time I had a very small list of dropped and a rather extensive list of Not Interested, then I saw so many people, and CERTAINLY I DO NOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE, but, many people are lead by the opinions of others and I know for a fact that I have seen many of my favorites trashed by some, so I did not think it important that my opinion matters all that much, so removed all the Not Interested and deleted my drops. I put League on and off my list mainly because I felt that too much censored would just be everyday stuff, so it took me several months to finally readdress. I had also put Word of Honor and Untamed in my hold box for almost a year. Untamed had times of hit and miss with me, the angst of Wei Wu Xian became over irritating. I will gloss over the fact that you do not like Gong Jun, because I just love him. I love to read and watch mysteries, and I am a big Doyle fan, so I was looking for something with mystery and League popped up again, then again on a list of Censored shows not to miss. So, I sampled the first episode and said DAMN, why did put this one off. Why did I enjoy it?? I think the mystery itself was not easy to guess. So, the excellent story, writing and very well acted.
I dislike modern in most all genres, as for the default romance, I think I have an unconscious bias against Asian women, because every show, and of course 95% of what I watch is BL or censored BL, but that girl/women who always screams love me not him is just skeevy to me. And those that ‘plot’ are worse. I used to wish other countries would do first or re-do what China does, but I have come to see that the finished piece would lack much depth and grandeur so the beauty would be gone. That is why I started collecting the books or reading the foundation material of many of the Chinese shows and movies. If China believes they can dictate morality or hide something they believe is immoral, so be it, they do not hunt and kill non cis people and being gay is not illegal, so I am okay with that.
South Korea goes on and off my lists. I recently have loved a good many of their fluffy BLs, little to no skinship, and I watch most of the Horror that comes out of SK. I do not watch much non martial arts action. Thank you for the rec, I have put Devil Judge on and off my list for a good while so have now added and will be watching first episode Sunday night. I am not a big fan of WY but I have put Luoyang back on my list too. Bloodhounds too. Thank you. I have so enjoyed finding another to talk about these visual treasures with.

REALLY? You have seen those movies? Damn, they are so good. There was one planned for a 3rd movie but I think it has gone dead. I am going to watch this weekend again. I am unaware of a series. Who stars or where to watch. I have a fish named Bo Ya. He is a black molly. I like Mark Chao in The Dream better than the second one, but both were good. I don't care much for romance, yes way too boring. I mostly like xianxia the more heavy martial arts and fantasy and magic the better. I have been a fan of martial arts since the 70's. I just finished A League of Nobleman, loved it. The Ancient Detective, Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty, Word of Honor and The Untamed are beyond great. Shrouds of Heavens: Forbidden Zone, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, Birth of a Drama King, The Silent Criminal. Also Ghost Bride was good. There are several by that name and all are good. It is difficult to find NON romantic Chinese period pieces as I think Asia is in Love with being in Love. I will have to go back through some on my lists to see what would qualify. Most of the time if there is not romance, there is bromance. I have been through your lists and YES!!! We do share many of the same likes. I LOVED You make me dance. Won Tae Min was also in Unintentional Love Story and he is so versatile. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I whole heartedly agree with that. Great screen writers. I also think that China refuses to do half-ass productions. I got hooked on Chinese lore and mythology when I watched The Yin Yang Master on Netflix. These movies will be forever favorites. Now I just hunt for things to watch.

I have come to have an immense appreciation for Chinese series and movies. Although BL is my passion, I have found a great attachment to many that are not even censored, nor BL in any way. I especially like the historical ones, with all the beautiful period clothing, with the hair adornments that are beyond beautiful. Always willing to hold out for the book. You are too kind, and I will be on the look out for the info.

I am going through the comments and topics of discussion now. Fond is perhaps a bit understated for me as I tend to "Fall in Love" with all of the Chinese censored offerings. I am a true BL fan, but the Chinese do these so well that the BL is an after thought or often no thought at all. Thank you for the link info, I will be certain to follow for more; although I collect books and would rather have a translated copy. Available somewhere?
Superb! This one has something for everyone; Action, romance, adventure, historical, mystery... The Chinese do these epic stories so well. As an American it was a little irksome to hear of the "American Greed" but I think American movies and shows have done the same so, we will not allow that to stop us from a great show. I actually cried in some parts and laughed in others. I am sad to have finished and would like to continue starting my day with this show, but all good things must come to an end. I am thinking of getting the book to get the full experience of the story. Perhaps the author has or will continue the story or another like it. I will certainly be on board for that too.
I cannot recommend this one enough. I cried, I laughed, I held my breath in thriller mode. A League of Noblemen will remain one of my all time favorites.
Ended up loving this one. The first ep almost made me want to give up. Now, hoping and praying they give these 2 couples more story like Chapter 3 or another show. I thought both couples had great chemistry and this company is great at the Adult stuff.
I don’t think I prefer which side of a couple I like, or which one draws my attention the most. Often, I am uncertain of which is the top and which is the bottom. Shallow as all get out, I am pulled most by the prettiest one. So for me it would be Hua Cheng.

I find adulting repulsive and irritating.
