hi, sorry for the delay once again, and no need to thank me at all, i am the one to thank you for listening to my thoughts. don't rush yourself for the second watch if you haven't done it yet, i totally understand these feelings and the cry the comes with this film so sometimes it's better to go slow. about sangbum, even tho that would not be my or your reaction to a loved one cutting themselves, i don't think the way he dealt with it was sloppy writing, it was kinda realistic tbh. these kind of things are not that well discussed in korea and not talking about korea only, there's people around the whole world that just think people cut themselves to get attention or something like that. i think he just didn't think minha would go further than that. when you said you would be very alarmed if something like that happened to your boyfriend, i think the movie actually wants us to feel this way, they want us to be more aware and notice more because someone next to us can be going through something pretty bad and sometimes we don't notice/don't take it seriously enough.i don't think sangbum didn't take it seriously, he was not okay with it, he covered the scars when he made minha's hand bandage, it probably worried him in a way. i think he just wasn't aware that it was a sign of something a lot deeper and that he should have been a lot more worried. but after all, didn't seem like there was someone else they could ask for help either which is also something sad.

my comment was 2 months ago but hell i am STILL thinking about it jgkldg i will never really move on. my second watch was like a day before the first watch jfkdflbut i have watched it again later, every time i end up processing and feeling more in different parts. YES YESSS i agree with you! they did a wonderful job, both of them and the crew, they build the story perfectly in the time they had and i love everything about it, from the photography to the music, everything! the actors are amazing, i already knew donghwi from another short film, but this one is my favorite. i dream to see them both acting together again in another project someday.

but yeah, there were signs everywhere. this shows how important it is to be aware of the signs and take them seriously because the worst can happen (but help can be found too). not everyone who self-harms and has suicidal thoughts really ends up taking their life, i am living proof of that, but some do, some people never find help, nor even the help to find help. it's not an easy battle, it's already hard when we do have help, so imagine when you are alone. minha was so lonely, we have no glimpses of parents or other friends and his suffering was deep inside his soul. sangbum couldn't take his pain away nor feel for him and as i said before, they dealt with things in the way they knew how to. neither of them could make or expect the other to change who they are to fit their expectations (minha when he wanted sangbum to come out) or to avoid conflicts (sangbum when he wanted minha to stay quiet). neither of them could magically make their situation better either. so yeah, just sad )): sad tears rolling in my eyes once again T.T

AAAAAA OH GOD i also wish i lived next so we could talk about it, i love talking about things like this and i have no one to do so about this short film T.T
i gave you my thoughts about things, but as said before, it's just my personal thoughts, the only ones who can REALLY be sure about everything, are the ones behind the camera jgklsd i completely understand the feeling of being wrecked about it, just thinking about it now, i feel everything once again. this short film really had a big impact on me. i wish they both had run away so they could escape, find help and support and be happy ))):

OMG HI !!!!! i'm so sorry for the delay to reply you, i only saw it yesterday. i was not expecting to receive so many replies to my comments here, i was so surprised but happy as well, thank you sooo much T.T i cried so much too, i still have all the feelings i felt when i first watched here on my chest and i actually watched it again many times later because there is A LOT there to digest, it also took me some time to figure some things.

answering your questions on my point of view, so please feel free to disagree or think differently because this is really just how i personally read the film: i don't think sangbum really wanted to break up with minha, hence why he then cried after and changed his mind when he was happy with the fireworks at the beach, he was just a very very very scared teenage boy who just didn't want to suffer and face adversities and thought that maybe would be easier to just not date another boy, i think minha knew about all that more than anyone. he pushed sangbum before, he verbalized his thoughts and wants but i think he also understood that he couldn't decide anything for the other. the choice to come out and be out and proud in the world is solely and uniquely an individual's choice and unfortunately, not even all the love in the world can make someone feel really safe and comfortable to come out because the world we live in is still a very dangerous place for us lgbt+ people. sangbum said that he was bullied in his other school and even tho minha didn't let him say the reason, for me, that was enough to know that he was bullied for his sexuality and he was now doing what he could to protect himself. minha realized that there was a line he couldn't cross but he also couldn't take the things happening with him anymore, he was exhausted, emotionally exhausted. and why minha didn't leave things like that when sangbum broke up first, i think it's because minha didn't want sangbum to feel guilty for anything and wanted his last memory to be a happy sangbum enjoying that moment. minha saw him breaking down before, in that scene where sangbum saw the guys attacking minha and instead of doing something, he ran away. later, minha found him crying and sobbing hard. i think minha didn't want him to feel responsible for how minha was treated, how damaged minha's mental health was and how unhappy he was with his life. he kinda did that before, he asked why sangbum never did anything to help, why he didn't feel angry when minha was attacked, he wanted sangbum to do something but deep inside i think he also knew that it would not really make things better, it would just make them both be attacked. the whole situation they lived in school was not fair to either of them, damn it was shitty and terrible and each of them just dealt with it in the way they thought it was the best. so i guess in that last moment, making sangbum have a happy moment with the fireworks and minha being the one to break up, he wanted to free sangbum of any responsibility and guilty. the more i think about it, the sadder i get fksdjfjsk T.T

i really think he just forgot. i know it may come as negligence, it's really bad to stod someone up like that, but i really don't see it as him doing it on purpose or not valuing nont. i just truly think he forgot. the first time, they worked until late hours and he saw valen alone so he just went there to make him company and the second time he wasn't planning to go on a trip with valen, he was taken by surprise. now when he's with valen, he forgets everything else, his feelings are blooming even tho he probably only really took notice of it on the beach scene, when valen asked him what he was feeling. i just hope he will be honest with himself and with nont on part 2 because if this keeps happening it will be really bad :/ i love valen, but i also like nont a lot and get sad for him, he deserves better and i really hate love triangles especially when the other part is so nice and don't deserve to suffer at all. i just want them all happy jfksdl sorry for this long reply

yeah, it would not be like him to just leave, especially when he was the one who really wanted to display affection publicly, to be out in the world, he really wanted to be with bum, he just couldn't bear his existence anymore, not in the way it was. the way it takes us some time to notice the signs and finally understand what happened, makes me think about how this happens in real life too, all the time. unfortunately, many people show signs but we often only realize when it's too late ): maybe this is also what the film wanted to bring awareness to, to make us be more perceptive of the ones around us that may be struggling, showing signs but not getting the help they need. thank you for going along with me in this conversation, it's nice to discuss things like this <3

i'm so sorry i was the one to make you think about death and ruining the idea of him just leaving jfkdjflk leaving is a less sad ending cause there's still hope for the future. the short film does not say obviously and clear what happened to him, maybe they wanted us to guess, this way we have room to imagine a less painful end. on my first watch, i was a bit confused about it because we only see those girls saying he is missing and one of them asking if he is dead and then bum crying and everything else. but after rewatching a few times, with everything i told already and analyzing minha's character and what i could get from him, the self-harm, and how he loudly said he hated being alive cause things were not getting better, suicide made more sense to me. sorry for babbling this much, i get excited when sharing thoughts jfkdfjsl
