It wasn't really a reference, they just showed a script with a name 'mouse'. But it's by the same writer so she could have been working on it since then.

I just saw a fanpic of MITH filming today if Seung gi in a king costume looks like he's dancing or something. I have nothing but respect for him. I cannot even imagine the level of professionalism he has to be able to manage being in such an emotionally taxing and dark drama and be on variety shows simultaneously.
