i'm a japanese drama beginner, i don't watch jdramas regularly but i love them because of their originality and quirkiness (and also the less episodes & duration, the better for me). and i plan to watch more jdramas in the future!
I watched "Mondai no aru restaurant" last year and i found Mayu Matsuoka impressed me so much (for Mayu fans, make sure you don't miss her movies : "Tremble all you want", "Chihayafuru 2-3") i just wanna add that :) i also loove Fumi Nikaido (i don't know if she's considered as rookies or not) but she's one of the most versatile actor i've ever seen and i always enjoy her acting.
the movie was beautiful! watched it a while ago in a japanese movie festival. heartwarming, but heartbreaking at the same time. I'm always a fan of Koreeda's work and i hope Shoplifters will win this category.
This is more a slice of life, slightly philosophic, drama than a sports drama. The main topic evolve around the…
i agree, the presence of this female lead did not affect the whole story, or the other characters...she shouldn't have been there. And.. IMO, there's too much fanservice though. In 1 hour and 44 minutes there was like 4-5 scenes where Mackenyu went shirtless (I'm not actually complaining but..) i just thought that it was a bit too much.
I was lucky enough that i got a chance to see this in the cinema. I always love Koreeda's work (especially Still Walking & After the Storm) and Shoplifters is no exception. It was subtle, full of warmth, yet so powerful in the end. It made me think about what will happen to this 'family' next, because they were too real for me. I love it. Props to the amazing actors: Ando Sakura, Matsuoka Mayu, Lily Franky and the late Kirin Kiki :")

she'll be starring in 4 movies this year! AAH! *inaudible scream*
8,5 for the movie and + 0,5 because of Gong hyo jin (yes, i am that biased, can't help it)..
