Fun sitcom
The first reason for watching this was because Ken was in it (I'm a Starlight). Knowing how funny of a guy he is, I wanted to see how he does in dramas. The second reason was the length and the number of episodes, a very reasonable one.Well, the story is good enough and simple. I thought it was dragging a bit in the end. The last episode was way too rushed. Some moments were really funny, others were plain silly.
The acting was okay, just what you would expect from this kind of drama. I have to say I was really surprised of Dong Jun's acting. Hightop had some really funny expressions! Am I the only one who didn't feel at all the chemistry between Ken and Min Do Hee? Dong Jun had better chemistry with her.
The OST was quite forgettable, I don't remember any of the songs.
To be quite honest, I wouldn't rewatch it that much. There were some hilarious moments especially in the beginning but that was pretty much it.

A drama that didn't reach its full potential
The very first minutes of the first episode look very promising and the plot is also really good. But around the 10th episode or so, the story gets dragged a lot and it was a bit hard for me to finish it. Too much emphasis on the key to Cheon Ui Joo instead on character developments, I really wanted more of that and also some progress on the fighting scenes or on Si Woo's powers. The ending was nice but quite rushed. It makes sense if the drama was shortened from 20 to 16 episodes. The acting was really good! The actors did what they could with the script. Some scenes were badly executed: one that really pops in my mind is the cliff scene from the last episode. I mean, it was in 2016, not 1976!
The OST was perfect! I was so happy to hear VIXX again. Lee Hyun Woo's song was really good: didn't know he sang so well.
I wouldn't rewatch it to be quite honest except some fighting scenes, I was disappointed when the tournament was cancelled, that was one of the most exciting parts!

Beautiful and tragic drama
Right from the very beginning you are aware of what you are about to watch, the title tells it pretty straightforward too.The first episodes are a bit slow paced but then, as you start getting used to the characters, you are more and more curious to see what it will happen next. The ending, in my opinion, is heartbreaking but a bit bittersweet.
The acting was very good from the main characters but the highlight for me must be Lee Dong Gun for playing such a conflicted character. Even though the king is a tyrant, sometimes you can't help but feel bad for him. The younger actors were so well chosen!
The OST was nice.
I don't know if I'm the only one but after finishing this show, I need to watch something uplifting. The ending will be stuck in my head for a few days, such a sad one.

Pretty decent
Once in a while I need to watch some short dramas too; this one was quite decent and cute.My main problem was the plot: it could have been written much better; I know there wasn't enough time, but still. The main leads had chemistry. Her ex-boyfriend was annoying and it would have been great if he didn't get that much screen time. The male lead's love interest was bland. Too rushed the ending.
The OST was cute but I wouldn't rewatch it that much. It was fine but many plot holes to make it addicting. It's a good way to pass the time though.

Mixed feelings about this
First of all, the poster is so misleading. You might think "Oh, another drama with a love triangle" but that is not all the case. Also, you might think you're about to watch one of the funniest dramas ever. I agree, there are some funny moments, mostly because Jung Kyung-ho is so good in these kind of roles, other than that, is a very serious drama. The most interesting part of this is finding out the truth about the murder. The last 2 episodes had a lot of suspense! I thought the change of personality after a heart transplant is quite over the top but after doing a bit of research, it is true, so interesting.
I'm one of those people who didn't see at all the chemistry between Jung Kyung-ho and Kim So-yeon, at one point I didn't even care if they were going to end up together or not.
The music worked very well.
I'm not saying I regret watching it, I'm glad I gave it a shot, but there were so many moments which could be shortened. 10-12 episodes would've been enough, that's why my rewatch value is 4.

Memorable and profound
What a journey this drama has been. At first, I was quite skeptical because the episode length was of a movie one. But as I started watching it, I was so attached to the characters and their stories. Everything was flowing so natural. I thought it was too soon revealed who Deok Seon's husband was, I wished for it to happen later, to keep longer the suspense. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, too less minutes of 2015, wanted to see what happened to Jeong Hwan.Great acting but the parents impressed me the most, especially Seong Dong Il. He could make you laugh but also sad.
I found the music very appropriate.
I would rewatch it but when I have no more dramas on my planned list!

Enjoyable drama
Once in a while, I like to watch older Korean dramas. I think there are certain aspects that are done better than in today's dramas. First of all, there were a lot of events going on in 20 episodes! Yes, there might be some melodramatic moments but I enjoyed it a lot.The acting was good especially from Ji Sung. Eugene was fine. Even though I like a lot Lee Bo Young's acting, she annoyed me here most of the time, because of her character and her pouty expressions every time something didn't go her way.
The music was so beautiful, dramas back then had more meaningful soundtracks, most OSTs now are quite forgettable, this is one I won't forget easily.
Rewatch value - 7, mostly because it was getting dragged in the last part, but overall, it was really worth it!

Unexpected
Yes, that's the word for it: unexpected. Even though the first episode is a bit long, the plot is really good from the very beginning. Falcon is even more challenged when a great hacker makes his appearance and there's a nuclear bomb threatening Japan. You have to expect the unexpected in every episode because you never know one's true intention: who can you trust?Acting was as always great.
Music, as in the first season, suited the mood.
I think it's better than the first season, although it is recommended to watch also the first season, this is why my rewatch value is 9.

Unique and refreshing
It's good to start watching something without any expectations so you can be pleasantly surprised. The beginning was slow paced but enjoyable. It had a certain mystery and everything went in the right direction even in the last episodes. The ending was a bit ambiguous for me because some things don't add up but I won't go into detail since I don't want to spoil anything.I really liked the characters and the acting! I really enjoyed the character developments.
Music was cute just like all those cats that appeared in the show!
It is a drama to rewatch because of the fresh feel that it gives.

Captivating melodrama
One of the things that made this drama an enjoyable watch was the plot. I couldn't help but feel bad for everything Yoo Jung was going through but it was great seeing her trying to make her way of living after being in prison. Liked the fact the drama didn't focus too much on Yoo Jung's time in prison. The acting was so good especially from the leads.
Music was well suited for the drama.
My rewatch value isn't that high because it was so sad in the beginning and I thought there's no way a person can endure that much.

It starts off really good, the plot is great from this point of view, the only problem for me is that in the last episodes it gets a bit dragging.
The acting was really good, it's one of the few dramas where I really like the cast and the characters don't annoy me!
The music was really cute, well suited for the scenes.
I would rewatch it, especially the first episodes! Too funny!

The story was new for a Korean drama: a woman in her 30s wanting to be a main writer. Her road is full with obstacles but in the end she makes it. The ending though was quite uninspired and bland. All that trouble for nothing?
The acting was good and the cast was well chosen.
The OST was really nice.
To be honest, I wouldn't watch it again, maybe some moments from it but overall it was a pleasant watch.

Flawless drama
What a drama. Everything about it was flawless.Plot is interesting from the very beginning; you don't even notice time passing considering almost all episodes have 75 minutes. Every episode ending was unexpected, I couldn't guess at all what was going to happen.
No complaints about the acting: Yeo Jin Goo played absolutely amazing; you could totally see from his look and intonation when he was playing Ha Seon or the king. Never saw a drama with Kim Sang Kyung before; he portrayed a great character but with flaws. Every character was memorable because of the hard work the actors put!
The OST was so beautiful.
I would rewatch this drama for sure, everything was on point.

One of the best historical Korean dramas
Another review I'm writing from a second viewing perspective. It must be about 6 years since I first watched it and seeing it was airing on my national channel, I had to watch it again. It's in my top 3 all-time Korean dramas, that's how good it is to me.Even at second watch, it was amazing! Firstly, the episode length shouldn't be a hurdle to anyone: there are so many things happening! The fast pacing is one of the strengths of this show, yes, one of it! 99% of the drama is about the road to becoming an empress. There are so many obstacles until she gets there that you are about to throw a party once that happens.
Let's talk about the acting: Ha Ji Won was absolutely magnificent, she never disappoints! I like so much the fact that she was at first presented as a very strong woman with fighting skills and then you could see her vulnerability. But still, what a strong character interpreted by one of the finest actresses of South Korea! Ji Chang Wook was so good, his character was alone and used like a puppet by almost everyone! Joo Jin Mo was great too, felt so bad for his character. My favourite character from the entire drama has to be Tal Tal, one of the smartest characters ever, always taking the right decisions, so calculated in everything he did.
Beautiful OST!
For sure, one of the best historical Korean dramas and one of the best Korean dramas ever!

Rollercoaster drama
What a ride this drama has been. Funny, cute, emotional, dark, you name it.The plot is so complex that I don't even know where to start. Everything is centered around Lee Yeon Soo but the other characters have their conflicts as well. The backstory of Kim Dan seemed so interesting to me. I'm glad the ending was a satisfactory one because the last episodes were so sad. If I had something to object was the fact that the ending was a bit rushed but that's not taking anything from the drama's charm.
The highlight of the acting performances was definitely for me Shin Hye Sun's, absolutely great. Nothing seemed exaggerated in any way whatsoever. L improved a lot. The antagonists played so good!
The OST was just perfect, most OSTs are OK, this one sticks in your mind.
I would rewatch this for sure, once my planned-to-watch list becomes shorter.
