So I actually managed to watch this with my limited Japanese (about N5-N4.5 and about 2000 vocabulary). I could understand most of what was happening with some exceptions here and there. It wasn't a bad asadora as I've seen way worse things (such as amachan even though many people liked it). The story starts with Tenka and her rearranged marriage that her grandfather made with Ryunosuke's grandfather many years ago when they were fighting in a war. She then moves to Tokyo from Sendai to work on a day-care center. The acting was great especially the protagonists and the OST was amazing (hopefully I can find the CD somewhere without paying a fortune) I won't spoil more things but If you are looking for a relaxing and heartwarming asadora this is a good one.
kind of late but if you haven't found it it's on raredoramas but the quality is really bad but I guess beggars can't be choosers since this was not a popular asadora back in the day. Seems weird because I saw the trailer and it seemed very interesting with nice location , atmosphere , ost. Hopefully someday some group will find the time to create subtitles or upload it in better quality.
To the person below that didn't like Jun, you have to understand a couple of things. When you are young most children probably will do stupid things. In his age most kids did some of the same things. Get into serious fights, lie to their family because they were scared etc. Also remember that he grew without his mother for almost his whole life which played a crucial role to his development. And I really can't see what bad things Jun has done (obviously with the exception of leaving a girl pregnant. and not wanting to be with the girl.) It's great to see how his character develops into the later specials when he becomes more reliable and serious and carries a big debt that wasn't his fault. (don't wanna spoil the specials you will see) The only thing I would agree is that I would want to see more from some other characters such as Sokichi. And at the end of the day it's just fiction. No need to get so serious. Plus that's mostly how japanese culture was in the past.
I seriously recommend watching the directors cut version for at least season 2 if you can find it. I know it's expensive but it's totally worth it. There is so much cut content. For example in episode 12 there's like 17 minutes of cut content.
Such a heartwarming and beautiful drama. Even though the video and subtitle quality was not good. Definitely recommend this drama to everyone. Don't know why the above person gave a review with a score of 4. I would easily give this drama a score of 9. Great actors (Nanako Matsushima and Sanada Hiroyuki are amazing actors) , Bonus the OST which was great. A great ending as well (as well as it could be given the circumstances.)
I didn’t watch the whole series yet, but these seem better?https://myasiantv.pe/tv-series/beach-boys
Nope. They are the same subtitles by Nippon Golden Network.Wait until you move to the special episode...These subtitles seem 10/10 if you compare them to the special...I did manage to fix the special episode subtitles (Synch times and a few grammar, translation etc.) So I might upload them soon once I can confirm there are no errors.
Man the translation in this special is really bad...and I mean it. A lot of things don't make sense at all. Hopefully someone that knows japanese can fix it. I even tried the v2 version of the subtitles where the translation is supposed to be a lot better but actually it's not. Not only that but the timing is off. Lots of lines appear 2 seconds earlier others 2 seconds later..I am wondering if the english translation is even right since the subber managed to mess the subtitles even when the actors were talking in English.
I don't know if this is true but there is a comment of the screenwriter that says that a new beach boys season 2 is in development with same cast..According to him it was supposed to air summer 2022 but now we are almost at summer 2023...Maybe someone can find more information? Such a great series....Too bad nobody fixed the broken subtitles that exist for so long. Hopefully someone can go back and fix the broken translation and the badly synced time.
Kita no Kuni Kara was the last J-drama that I watched before publishing this article, and I'm glad I did. I think…
It's more of a medical drama at least the 1st season + the specials. But there are also some slice of life things in it too. Each episode focuses on a different patient. 2nd season is not as good as the first but continues the story and is more focused around the problems of ayaka and takehiro with his father. I recommend it because the actors , story, scenery and ost are amazing.
Great article. Here are some more recommendations Medical: Dr. Koto's Clinic + Specials and Season 2 (There is also a movie coming out this year after 16 years). Disability: Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru (Great Romance drama)
Btw: Kita no Kuni kara is also probably my favorite drama..What a series . Yoshioka Hidetaka is such a great actor that also plays in Dr. Koto's Clinic.

Virgin Snow (Hatsuyuki no Koi) which is a movie.
