Oh boy this last episode was a roller coaster! I'm in pieces... This is definitely a drama that i wish i could have a chance to watch again for the first time. The story. The cinematography. The acting...
best drama of the year. I will miss it so much when it ends...
Well, unless you have a phobia, witch is a serious mental health problem (although it can be managed with adequate therapy), just being afraid of blood or needles is not a thing that can exclude you from working on health care. It's just a thing that you get used to, when you have to deal with it. I don't personally like to see blood or needles, LOL. But when i do, i´m usually more busy thinking about other things like why the patient is bleeding, is she/he afraid, should i call the doctor, etc, etc. And also there are so many types of fields where a nurse can work besides ER...

Yes, I've been a nurse for eight years now \^.^/
Of course some things are different because this is a drama, you can't always save the patient, some medical procedures are more complex, etc, etc. But what i like about this drama is how they portray the characters personalities, motivations and choices. Being a nurse or a doctor is all about giving a great part of yourself to others, not just because it's your job or your duty. Some times when i have to work for several hours without sleeping, eating or going to the bathroom, i think...why am i doing this? Well, i'm such a incurable romantic, i can't avoid to feel the need to help another human being, it's a part of who i am. And this drama asks the characters a very simple and hard question, witch is, who are you? Are you a nurse/doctor for the money, for recognition? What motivates you? When Teacher Kim is asked about what is better, to be a good doctor or the best doctor in a surgery, his answer is so simple and brilliant because it's so obvious, although not often said in this type of dramas or in real life...He says that all that you have to do, is to perform the surgery with the need skills to help the patient. Not because you want to prove that your better than others (like Do In-Bum), or you want recognition from your colleagues or superiors (like Kang Dong-Joo), or you want to prove that you are talented (like Yoon Seo-Jung) . It has to be because of the patient. We can call it living by an ideal or a romantic view of things, an altruistic call or whatever, but in the end all that matters is that there is nothing more important than a human life.
sorry for the long comment, but you asked..eh eh :-)
