In the novel, the ML and FL never meet until she comes to live with them for less than a year (10 months or so). ML’s mom was adopted when she was younger by the Cl family as a companion for FL mom (because she had a sickly constitution). I was in the same boat as you for many months after finishing reading this novel. I just couldn’t get over it so I read it again a couple more time.But I just finished reading the novel for Dazzling and loved it just as much. The heroine is very smart, she’s not naive, and the hero (although not as grey and cold as Luke) is a bit cold at the start, but turns into the best guy ever. Trust me, you will not regret it. But if you want a really cold and grey character, that falls even harder, read Love for you (the novel for the drama that is coming up with Song Weilong and Zhang Jingyi). You’ll like it!! Ohh my gosh. We are novel twins. I also loved those two novels a lot. I can recommend you reading the one I’m reading right now: Dazzling (very well written, full of angst and it’s also slice of life- so it has a time lapse from highschool to college to work life) Also, read the novel for the drama Zhang Jingy and Li Xian are filming now : “A Touch of Green” and last but not least, you can read Lumi’s story. Yes, Lumi, Shang Zitao’s bff. The author wrote her story and is very good and full of angst too (I cried lots) . It’s called “Chatty Lady”. I can send you the link if you want to.

This is my favorite Cnovel. I’ve read it three times already, so you can imagine how excited I am about the drama. Also, I love both actors and think they were the perfect casting for the roles. I loved Lumi!! If you like to know more about her and her romance, read her story. That novel also made me cry. It was so beautifully written.
