In the trailer's didn't you see YSC standing up to his mom saying "when I was a kid you used take away all the things used to like from me but this time I wanna protect her", she probably felt that she is the one for her son seeing him stand up against her and in a trailer they show the three most important women in YSC's life going shopping hand in hand and him following them.

I agree with you. In many chinese dramas I find the SCP's stories more intriguing. Where as here, I would prefer MR being a good friend to GXX and YSC and SK being a hardcore guy and them leaving us a open ending for the CP ,like eying eachother or somethin hinting that there could something there happening in the future and make YSC's secretary and LXY the SCP, which I wish was there. But, if the showmakers want to follow the novel and not add new CP's but change the story in a really different way what can we do.

Frankly while reading the novel I was honestly curious to know how they would portray Shang ke in my opinion making him a childish character have ruined everything about the SCP.
