the way the WOH crew worked with what they had because they couldn't afford other means. “the production is really poor, other (dramas) are all man made rain, but they waited for the real rain” from: https://twitter.com/xiaotoumings/status/1368045196659752960
From AvenueX's First Impression video, she mentions that the drama faced some issues with filming (e.g. pandemic) and the original leads left. So, I did some searching and it seems that it was supposed to be Mao Zi Jun (茅子俊) as ZZS and Li Dai Kun (李岱昆) as WKX. Although Li Dai Kun is not the lead, we can still see him as the Scorpion King (蝎王), which is the role Gong Jun originally auditioned for. What a blessing to have Zhang Zhe Han and Gong Jun as the leads. Seems like fate.
Can somebody explain me the poem of episode 12? What does it happen with the lady in the poem after she receives…
To my knowledge, Rong Xia is saying she's experienced everything that has happened in the poem. The poem illustrates a man proposing to a lady with the prey he hunts. So Rong Xia is saying Ban Hua accepting the prey is accepting Shi Jin's proposal. But Ban Hua isn't well-versed in literature so she doesn't understand the meaning behind the poem and the prey she accepted.
I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny…
I've read in articles that ZLY has had constant back injuries from doing stunts over time (there are pictures where she has a protrusion on her back that is seen when she wears backless dresses), perhaps that's why she didn't do any stunts this time? And the age gap thing, I think it's really difficult for actresses because c-dramas always feature characters that are within a specific, young age range (16-25). If you watch AvenueX's video on YouTube titled "You're Not Allowed To Age", she explains this more in depth on how very famous, commercially successful actresses, who are in their 30s, have extensive lists of works, but are still playing similar roles that don't seem to age. For example, Yang Mi in Legend of Fu Yao. I feel like a lot of this older-actress-playing-half-her-age is also the fault of the industry where actresses only have these roles to play because they are limited in options.
I'm struggling to get into this drama and I absolutely love xianxia dramas and was really looking forward to watching this. I've tried to watch this twice and have only gotten to ep. 5 before dropping it again. Does it get better? I can't seem to stand Xuan Ji's character.
Has anyone heard any info on 三生三世白暮泪 (Three Lives, Three Worlds, White Twilight Tears)? There's not much info in English but a DramaWiki page mentions it focusing on Bai Zhen and Zhe Yan's story.
Sigh. There are so many things wrong with the execution of the main romantic relationships with this drama. The ending song is especially deceiving. I'm super disappointed...
I feel they could have developed her relationship with LLW more. All that is given are flashbacks. The ending is also decieving because it is all about her and LLW. It's fine if her relationship with YWY is the one they are selling but at least give LLW a fair playing ground!
