Wasted potential. Could have been truly great, but the execution is bad unfortunately. The writing is not the best. The characters make some really weird decisions.
I don't know, something feels off about this show. Its not exactly bad, but its not that great either.
Also, the male protagonist completely steals the show to the point that any other scene hes not present just becomes boring. The female protagonist acting is... strange.
Honestly the first 3 and half episodes were kinda boring. I almost dropped it if not for the fact that I knew the protagonist would become king somehow (by reading the summary), so I was curious. By the end of episode 3 and episode 4, finally it becomes more interesting.
This show is good only from episode 8/9 on (beginning of the parents backstory).
20 episodes was definitely too much. But it's not a bad show (far from it), it's just that you have to endure the first 7 episodes. Fast forward is your friend.
Hm... The first episodes could have been a bit better to get the viewers hooked. Anyway, it becomes more interesting later on, so I'll keep watching it.
This is really good. I just wish the norm for korean series were 10-12 episodes per season, not 16. Inevitably there will be filler scenes and slow paced episodes (basically a kdrama curse), but overall the show is great.
If you liked this, try Boyhood (2023). Although it differs from Weak Hero on its tone (it's more humorous, less darker), they are both great shows. Boyhood is just as good or even better.
Its good if you like romance without those silly misunderstandings or situations
but just a warning: the female protagonist is almost completely passive, like a puppy being led around by the male protagonist. pretty much a blank slate.
if you like strong female protagonists, this is not for you

Still, IMO it is worth a watch even if only for the first half.
Boyhood will get a season 2 too.
I just wish it was more easily accessible. To watch it with good quality and good subs, I had to use some "alternative" ways.
