I know what you mean! I honestly like both characters a lot? I get both their perspectives and like them individually but I just don't really enjoy their interactions as much as I enjoy the idea of them together in theory. I don't know, does that make sense?
I think when it comes to bickering couple dynamic, a lot of times writers do it for the sake of doing it and not because it makes sense in the situation. Here, a lot of their arguing is pointless despite there being a reasonable cause for disagreements. When they can just say things to each other, they instead say it with quips and barely covered insults. This is what bothers me. It's not even specific to this show. I see it in a lot of stuff all the time. I think challenging each other and insulting each other are totally different things and as you said, a healthy dynamic will include disagreements and arguments for sure.
For me personally, that balance is a bit tipped towards straight-up incompatibility here. Some level of argument between them makes total sense given their different world-views. But as two 34 and 35 year old adults who have functioning social lives outside of their interactions, they just come across as childish and intentionally immature. This is something that makes sense in a high school romance or an early twenties one but to be in your thirties and still act like this...it's a bit off-putting for me?
I respect those who don't share the same opinion, of course. I'm not trying to undervalue a different interpretation but speaking for myself, I wish they had dialed down on the "arguing for the sake of arguing" aspect a little bit.

Yeah, I really don't like the "arguing couple" trope. I know it's very popular and much beloved but it just really stresses me out. It's not specific to this show. i dislike in any form; real life, tv show, or book. But it's alright. I'm used to this type of interaction in literally everything!

I'm used to this level of mystery in fiction, tbh so it was enough for me! Lol.

"Right" here means, it seems you are very passionately interested in arguing about this and I'm acknowledging your passion but I'm not interested in engaging with it.

I don't think I agree with you, tbh. I just don't think arguing for the sake of arguing is a love-language. It's definitely not one I understand!
I think there are plenty of ways to develop two people adjusting to each other's world views and lifestyles while falling in love that doesn't include a constant battle to have the upper hand.
For me, this level of disagreement just redacts from the romance.
I still like the show though. It definitely has moments when the romance clicks and then moments when it fizzles out. I just wish it had more of those moments when they just work out.

Oh, I mean it generally. Second male leads are just the WORST! I've dropped many a show because of them. It's such an overkill.

I just think the main leads argue too much. They need to get along a bit more!

I'm so tired of bantering, arguing couples who show their interest through mean quips and constant competition! These types of relationships are so exhausting and counterproductive in real life and they totally mentally and emotionally drain you. That's why I can't enjoy them on screen either. They give me headaches. I just want a quiet love between people who don't feel like they have to win against their partner but lift each other up through support, mutual respect, and genuine affection so they can succeed as a team.

Oh, how I wish romantic shows would just retire the second male lead trope. He's tired, I'm tired, the dramas are tired. No one needs these pesky third wheels.

Yeah, I have some very contradictory feelings towards the show. On one hand, it has elements I love. On the other it's super heavy on cliches that are grinding on my nerves. Like why do the main characters argue so much?! It's stressing me out, tbh. I get very anxious when couples argue all the time. It's not cute at all.

Haha, yes it's subtle but it's a very nice movie either way.
