It's not 'fixing' it's just that Lian see Kuea's persona as this aristocraft good little boy with good manner and everything that when he found out kuea is kirin and do all the things behind his back, he was shocked. Lian too, trying his best to match this persona of kuea that he's turning into this cold, manipulative guy.
Just finished the book yesterday, all i can say is that the drama followed like 80-90% of the original plot and the main issue between the two of them is just miscommunication and overthinking. Y'all reaching out too much about a lot of things tbh.
