Tbh, in Korean film industry, there are full of political movies. The Man Standing Next was biggest hit in 2020. And there are literally tons of Korean movies deal with politics. Modern history/Politics always have been favorite genre in Korean film. In recent years, political movies like The Spy Gone North, 1987 When the day comes, A Taxi Driver,The Man Standing Next,The Attorney and etc were all commerical hit.

In this case, people are uncomfortable to relate democratic movement with North Korean spy. Because some alt right-wing often claim 'There were a lot of NK spy during 80s democratic movement. NK spy helped democratic movement a lot to overturn SK government at that time' and people are thinking this drama support right-wings narrative to dismiss democratic movement. Tho i think its immature to say since its just synopsis...Its to early to judge

I wonder why it's tag as horror?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOpLmeVvOBc

This netflix series is based on short film graduation project in 2014 by Korea National University of Arts. It was sapce horror short film that drew attention from Korean film studios. After it got a lot of attention from Korean film studios, there were rumors among Korean cinephiles that it will be made into commerical feature film in mid 2010s. Probably it wasn't made to feature film because space horror require high budget and there wasn't any previous successful Korean space horror film. And that's why people are assuming this is horror series.
