I think this arc is to show the development of FL. Without this arc, her character has no development at all, and she’s still just a lazy, useless, and innocent modern girl who happened to be in this brutal world. However, with this arc, she was separated from our ML for 18years, here she learned to survive on her own, to kill, and to not be a dependent (On anyone, especially Ml). She will have no grow with an overprotective partner like Sima Jiao. I agreed this part felt a bit… unnecessary because they didn’t execute it the way I pictured it. Too rush and confusing. They could’ve done better on the second half.

I feel like this drama needed at least five more episodes so it wouldn’t feel like they were rushing the second half, especially these last few eps made me feel like watching a 100m sprint off. Everything happened so quickly, literally jumping from one thing to another in the blink of an eye. I’m honestly just so overwhelmed right now. If not for the leads and their chemistry I might’ve given up already 😭

Agreed 👍. Since it’s an adaptation from a book so it’s crucial for the drama mot to drop this side characters I think. Also, the snake was much cuter and less annoying in the book tho. Idky they are just not that likable in the drama, I guess due to the fact our main cp is soooo good lol
