i understand what u mean, but i am quite sure that the guy's friends do not know the difference between taiwan and china and think they are actually the same.

I think it suggests that his friends do not consider taiwan/singapore separate from china. rather than the people being ethnically chinese.

We have quite a few similarities in terms of music taste. But I'm not a big fan of Korean culture like you are. I totally understand your feelings abou being in the wrong place though. I myself am in USA and the last time I went home. I chanced upon my then current favourite song whilst eating at a ramen shop. That made me think about how wrong it was to be where I am am right now (USA). But just gotta make the best of it and get out once I'm done with everything. Maybe you will get a chance to visit Korea soon!
