Actually, She is very great for comedy romance drama. However the story for this drama is kinda dark, I also found…
This is a body-swap romantic comedy since the beginning, just with some melo parts mixed in, like many other fantasy rom-com kdramas. Sometimes fusion historicals will start off more serious at the beginning for the sake of story setup.
I actually think Kim Se-jeong is great at both the more serious stuff and the comedic, which makes her perfect for pulling off the more serene, tragic Crown Princess, the more comedic Dal-i, as well as the body swap hi-jinks that will ensue. Never got into Business Proposal like the rest, but her crying scene in Brewing Love last year was one of the best I’ve seen recently and she’s also played a more reserved character in Uncanny Encounter, so personally feel her veering more comedic as Dal-i is pretty intentional from the writer/PD.
Also the Crown Prince is pretty unserious himself with the eunuch etc. when he isn’t angsting over his wife, so her character doesn’t really clash with the rest of the drama imo, but to each their own.
When I heard they were postponing, I didn't mind because:
1. This means I get to "spend" another week with these characters. I'm attached and not ready to say goodbye + how lovely to get to celebrate Valentine's Day with them. This being the most romantic show in a while, feels very fitting.
2. Thought we would get 10 and 11 together. I have a feeling all the fire trauma drama is going to start at the end of 9 so not looking forward to getting ep 10 alone next week because there's less chance of getting through their rough patch, if they have one. So here's to hoping the drama surprises me there.
Can someone tell me what the red shark shirt says? I keep looking for a translation, but can’t find it. Also what is the shark in reference to? I keep rewatching, hoping I will figure it out, but I just can’t seem to 😅
🚨 PSA: PEOPLE SHOULD BE USING SPOILER TAGS SO THAT NEW WATCHERS DON'T ACCIDENTALLY STUMBLE ACROSS SPOILERS.…
Ok, spoilers are annoying , yes, agreed. Everything else? Out of line, imo.
Some people are currently going through withdrawel and I find all the fervor endearing and am enjoying all the comments. If posting here together is helping them cope with the loss of a show that just ended, then I’m happy for that. It’s fine to voice your feelings if you’re not enjoying it, I guess, but I find your last comments to be a bit extreme and much more unpleasant than anything else I’ve read here. If this is a comment section to discuss the drama, than ppl have the right to post their thoughts as much as they want and it is very easy to show consideration for others by scrolling by comments that are too long or that you don’t personally want to read. Like it’s not that hard and the negative feelings you get from having to do that are not automatically more important than the feelings of everyone enjoying discussing the drama here, which is, like you said, what they’re supposed to do.
Again, I haven’t noticed any spamming and am enjoying all the comments. I don’t have twitter myself so all the content people are posting here is enjoyable for me. The show just ended so I’m sure people will let up on commenting eventually, but for now posting a bit more makes sense and is totally natural and I’m not sure how anyone could be so annoyed that they’d want to discourage that.
I’d say you need to have a bit more mindfulness for others before you criticize them for the lack of it.
I’ve been listening to Seo In-guk’s “Flower” (OST from Tomorrow with You) and, honestly, it could be an unofficial OST for this drama. Pretty sure SIG wrote the lyrics and helped compose. The lyrics oddly fit very well with these episodes:
“When I see your smile, that has the sky in it I get happy for no reason, Moment by moment Because of you, the world looks different” ...“When strong winds blow, I’m afraid it’ll take you away” etc.
+ lots of flower imagery and talk of hand-holding, haha. It just fits so well with the leads in this drama (actually Tomorrow with You and DAYS are a bit similar imo).
I’d love for an OST from him again, but, if not, I suppose this is close enough. Highly recommend giving it a listen!
lol see I'm the exact opposite, I have no interest in the secondary story and don't particularly like either of…
See, I want them to grovel but both not to get the girl in the end. If there’s some twist where she ends up with the brother or single, show will get some major points from me.
I know some find the FL boring, but I absolutely love her? I completely get why MM is falling for her, she is both tenacious and compassionate and she’s handled a cancer diagnosis + even more impossible-to-comprehend situations like a BOSS. One needs only watch Han Yeri’s cameo again to see why he’s been more drawn to her than other people. What’s more than that, she found him to be worthy of love when he didn’t even believe himself to be and the fact that he was so easily moved by that alone is actually one of the things that endeared me to his character and the drama.
This is not an attack on those who don’t like her btw I just wanted to say my piece since I disagree. I do think the romance of DK and MM carries the plot and you have to absolutely love both characters of a romance in order for it to work (at least, in my case). And so I’m satisfied here because I really love both characters. But I would be as bored as I was with Goblin if I couldn’t feel anything genuine for them and just felt empty during emotional scenes. So I definitely get the disappointment. But, buying into the romance in a romance drama and enjoying the progression and development of the leads is probably what takes it from being a terrible drama for some to being an amazing drama for others. Just wanted to point that out.
This will never be a groundbreaking masterpiece, but I do think there is a reason why a satisfying romance will always get highly-rated by those enjoying it - they alternately thrill and comfort us. I have had a bit of nostalgia for over-the-top, angsty fantasy romances ala QIHM, Arang, MGIAG, but haven’t been able to get into a lot of recent fare like that so this show has been right up my alley.
I may or may not tear up a bit reading all the unadulterated love this show inspires. Haven't watched today's episode yet, but I'm already sad it will be my last day of anticipating a new one.
A lot of comments says that chemistry is great and I agree, but it isn't really better than What is Wrong With…
I have to admit, I disagree. But this all just comes down to personal preference.
The chemistry, for me, was more genuine than Secretary Kim, but that is because the characters didn't engage me emotionally there, no fault of PMY & PSJ.
I could never pick between her chemistry here and in Healer though. Definitely her best pairings to date for me. I don't know how to explain it, but here and in Healer I just felt the emotions of the characters.
I agree that it became less about the fangirling, though I do consider 1-11 to be good bulk of the drama. And I liked the artistic aspects of the show. Ep16 also ended with enough fangirling stuff for me to almost be satisfied.
I would like to ask something If you keep up with the drama, cause I wanna get myself back on track with the episodes…
I have a slightly different opinion. I find episode 11 to be one of the strongest episodes of the drama, overall. So definitely watch and end on that episode, if you have to. After that, I think interest in the drama is going to depend on how invested you are in the couple.
I like the way the couple has grown together over the last episodes, particularly 13 and 14, but it is mainly them just being in a relationship while working through the Ryan's past trauma. I did really enjoy how Deok-mi was able to use strategies that helped her paint again to help Ryan with his own block.
I also really like the trajectory with Sindy's character in eps 11-14, as she gets taken in my Deok-mi's mom, so overall, the drama has stayed enjoyable for me, but it's true that it is not quite as fun. I'm hoping for a return to fangirl hijinx in the final week.
I loved this series to bits, but I’m “tiny bit” annoyed with Mi Rae’s best friend. She’s nice and all,…
Yeah, I love Do-hee and all. And I'm happy Mi-rae has a friend. But, I admit, I kinda prefer the class rep who seems closer to Mi-rae's unnie from the webtoon. She just seems a bit more organic as a character for some reason.
this show is slowly becoming a hit in korea it surpassed 4% in rating for ep4. Considering that it airs at 11…
For a JTBC show aimed at a younger demographic, it's doing really well. Age of Youth 2 had quite a bit of buzz but even that didn't show much in the ratings. Glad to see this show doing better. It has such an addictive quality to it.
I've also noticed the JTBC youtube videos for this show are pretty popular.
I won't rate...but I will say I'll think twice about watching something directed by song byung joon
Do you know how exactly Song Byung joon is affiliated though? He is not the director, Choi Sung bum is. Pretty much, everyone actually working directly on the drama is innocent.
While I'd think twice about watching if he were really involved, the inaccuracy of the report calls everything into question for me. I wonder if something is getting lost in translation.
I honestly adore him, though, if you go in with the mindset of him being a jerk, there are definitely moments…
Also, while Do-kyung is more mild-mannered in speaking, Gong Ki-tae (the male lead here) isn't as violent and doesn't do as questionable of things as Do-kyung did at the start. I really enjoy the banter between the leads in this, but he could speak harshly at times. As the series goes on it is more his way of showing worry over the female lead and, in the beginning, only when she was prying into something personal. Every time he was slightly harsher than I'd like though, the drama would set-up some karmic retribution for him or the female lead would set him straight. Overall, I probably had an easier time with him than Do-kyung.
Quick question: I'd love to watch this seeing as I've seen Introverted Boss and Another Miss Oh (which happens…
I honestly adore him, though, if you go in with the mindset of him being a jerk, there are definitely moments that would confirm that. But there is growth already by the end of the 1st episode that should have you optimistic about his character overall. I'd say try the first 2 episodes, at least. Of these 3 dramas, this one is still my favorite (though I did enjoy OHYA).
