I don't understand why they have to do this on the release day. The third ML thing happened months ago, why tf let it hinder the release right on the day of the release? This is just sad at this point

Btw this is a very very dramatised version of the life of Empress Feng of the NOthern wei dynasty, somehow they mixed the original princess wei yang novel and the real life figure and created this, In actuality her life was even more interesting and here's why

She was the sole surviving member of the nothern yan kingdom after it got taken over by nothern wei. She gets taken to the palace as a maid at 12 years old along with her Aunt. Her aunt wins over the Emperor and becomes his consort and thus life empress feng got easier. Her aunt taught her in secret and this quiet niece of hers turned out to be very smart. Soon her aunt sent her to the Prince's palace as a maid knowing this beautiful and smart neice of hers will capture his attention. And yes the 14 year old then Tuoba yu fell for the 12 year old feng. She helped him solidify his rule and he ended up Emperor and made feng his empress. Like in the drama emperor tuoba yu died quiete early and she became the Empress dowager at just 23. She ended uo ruling as regnant for both her son and grandson. She personally raised both and was extremely influential during thier reigns. She even had a few male lovers and built herself a mini harem

this drama doesn't hold a candle to the original novel here's why
1. Wei yang's character is different, the original novel was a reincarnation one. The main character herself is wei yang, concubine born daughter who died unjustly thus returns to take revenge. Nothing to do with the other kingdom. they changed it cuz of chinese cnsorship
2. Wei yang is RUTHLESS in the novel, she literally kills her enemies. Rather than the drama where she's a "nice smart girl"
3. The ML is different, in the novel it might come as a surprise but Li mingde is the male lead not touba jun. And no he's not some plain kid, he's described as extremely beautiful in the novel. And yeah they're not real cousins. he's actually a prince of the neighbouring empire. They settle in the neighbouring kingdom at the end
4. She has multiple admirers in the novel, even the two cousins in the jiang family have a hate-love-lust equation for her. Tuoba jun and tuoba yu are deadly obsessed with her
5. the revenge was: in the first life she married tuoba jun but he's well evil and uses and disposes her off with her sister chang le. Her son dies and she bleeds to death. Naturally she comes back and calculates revenge differently
6. Tuboa yu is obsessed with her in this life and also hates her since she keeps doing shi to him as revenge. He gets tortured to death and remembers his past life where he did the same to wei yang. He accepts it and realises he loved her all along
7. Li changle didn't get to marry Tuoba Yu, infact she doesn't even like him. She's more of a shallow villain. She gets tortured to death by wei yang
8. Li chang ru isn't evil in this novel, she's actually smart and allies herself with wei yang early on
7. This drama only contains like half of the novel. in the novel after her revenge is completed her family is mysteriously killed by the empress of another empire ( li mingde's home state). So she has a new revenge target and the second half is set in the new empire where she takes revenge against Empress pei, who's an even more formidable and interesting opponent. Li wei yang in the new kingdom gets a new family who actually loves her, gets her own harem of hot guys who fall for her wits and beauty. and ends up marrying mingde at the end

unlike her peers she looks very mature and elegent rather than small and childish. Based on how these chinese actresses look, i would've assumed she's like 40 but in a good way. Very beautiful woman

uh if you don't know then this drama is based on a work based on actual history, the FL is based on the glorious Empress dowager Xiaozhuang who was the most powerful woman in the Qing dynasty. So yes they can't just change historical narratives, they did however tried their best to untie some knots and make the story less dark than the original version

please mark the spoilers, and you can't tell people to " not watch it" just because it's a tragedy. It's based on a drama based on real history so ofc there would be angst, some people like agst

the novel has a very interesting premise but it's not executed well and there's no well defined plot which carries the story forward. I really really hope the scriptwriters up their game and it's not messy. How often to do we see a morally grey interesting female lead who isn't running after the ML in a cutesy childish way ?

she stands out among her peers as she looks elegent. feminine, mature and dignified. Even her behaviour is different. Compare that to her peers who are overly childish and look like starving kids (though still beautiful)

can we just talk about how it doesn't make sense for all these beautiful young women to be in love with the fat old emperor lmao? like tf, ik they can only depend on him and have no way out but realistically they should try to have kids, kill the emperor and have affairs. It only made sense for the empress to love him
