I assume the Jo clan's existence in this drama is more to the 'additional noise' in a way that their actions just gonna add more spices to the drama itself due to them always misunderstanding the situation and seemingly left out. I actually am thinking perhaps this drama would end where Kim and Jo clan (minus the king and queen's allies) being expelled from the palace.

I assume O Wol was killed due to her knowing too much of some things, incl. the face of the person who tortured her. The killer was on the Kim side (the older brother of Grand Queen Dowager). I think there was an instance in one of the first 5 episodes where the older brother of Grand Queen Dowager said something abt the removal of people who know too much or something like that.
