I was very much looking forward to this series because I read the novel a few years back. Despite some changes from the novel, I tried to enjoy the drama but the trope of Chong Zi getting punished for things she didn’t do and also getting bullied by her own sect repeatedly and her Shifu blindly protecting her.. I’m not upset they changed the plot/characters but so disappointed that they made it worse and draggy.
And I really hope that YCY’s acting will improve in her next drama. I can’t really compare from her previous ones because this is the first actual drama I watched of hers. And it’s lacklustre.. some scenes I hoped she had acted out more or portrayed more emotions. Her expression whether she is angry, shocked, sad (there were tears but I find other actors in the drama who didn’t shed a tear, their scenes were even more compelling) sometimes even happy and especially when she needs to be domineering!!>.< are the same poker face. But of course there were also some scenes (especially at the beginning) she was alright. This is sad because I like her (came to know her from When We Write Love Story) and I hope she will improve in her future dramas.
So far I’ve yet to skip any scenes but I find myself zoning out T^T I will try to finish this!
Update 6 Apr. I dropped it at around ep30 because at this point I’m just forcing myself and I don’t want that. I look forward to the actors’ future dramas.
BY is at 30 for overall and at no.4 for female celebrities in a Weibo’s event poll - 微博之夜. Not sure if Weibo will be inviting her to the physical event :/

I just submitted a request and I hope that the admin will consider. Because on the China’s State Administrative Tax press con, they only mentioned 6 celebs/news anchor are found guilty and being investigated for tax evasion. No names were mentioned. But if you searched thru the same platform. You won’t find BY or her then affiliated company on the gov website anywhere. Unlike the other 6 celebs. I even requested to change the incriminating word to “withholding tax” for BY.
