Title On Cloud Nine Spoiler

(marking for spoilers just to be courteous to those who haven’t watched yet)

As for the 99 days, it’s a Buddhist afterlife belief! They believe that the dead have up to 99 days after they died to have final happiness (basically just the “unfinished business you need to get done in order to cross) before they are reborn into their new lives!

Storyline as I understood it was that mon and tiew met at the store mon worked at, and since the twins (mork and mon) were “playing a game” of acting like each other in life, he introduced himself as mork, and from there mork met tiew after mon told mork about him and thus created this relationship we saw in the show. (Not sure if mork and mon switched during that time period, but considering how mork told mon he felt bad about lying to tiew about the situation, they more than likely did.) Mork felt unsure about his feelings for tiew (and probably felt guilty bc Mon liked him as well) and so once he told tiew that he wasn’t sure, he basically left the city (maybe even the country since Mon hadn’t seen mork either from what I’m gathering from their slight interaction later in the show) for three years. Then coincidentally tiew died while waiting for mork to return and so did mork, so they met each other in the afterlife. Going back to the 99 day thing, it’s said that the first 3-4 days after someone dies, they won’t remember their life until they drink the dew of winter, hence why mork didn’t remember tiew.

Hope this helps!!! If not I can try again to explain to the best of my abilities! (Take my explanation about the 99 day thing with a grain of salt honestly as I’m not Buddhist, it’s just what I’ve gathered from watching this show and other thai shows about ghosts/death/afterlife and what I’ve read.)

Title On Cloud Nine Spoiler
Okay as someone who went into this expecting a completely different story, I’ll admit that this drama was quite confusing, but that kinda is just on me for relying on Mdl’s synopsis above.

The first episode left me completely confused honestly. Although after a while I kinda caught on to what was going on, at least when it came to Tiew. His lines during the scene with the flowers and how he just appeared out of nowhere in white clothes gave that away for me.

The whole twin brother thing just confused me all over again lmao. Although I am glad they tried their best to wrap it up in mork’s final meeting with mon. They explained it decently enough that it made sense, and it can be common that identical twins will swap places for a trope.

I personally think the clothes aspect (more showing up in colored clothes while tiew showed up in all white) was nicely executed. It was a cool idea to show that mork didn’t understand yet that he had died, even after meeting with wise. I’m not sure if the few glimpses we got of mork in white clothes previously was a mistake in editing or just the director/writer’s way of showing that mork had died, so I think that honestly could’ve been a little better executed, but they did at least tie it together when tiew said that mork had always been in white clothes, he just didn’t believe it.

While tiew and morks relationship was quite confusing (probably just because of time constraint and the time skips between life and death) I still think it was quite cute. The actors had pretty good chemistry in my opinion. And at least it wasn’t your typical story with an annoying bottom and a top that’s way too full of himself, I’m honestly so sick of that trope as a gay man, please lord give me something new 🙄. Anyways I just think they casted the show well! Meen and Rossi did really well with the material they were given. And now that I look back on it I can understand now that Rossi/mork didn’t have just a sad resting face but he was actually just guilty over his feelings for tiew 😭😂 (that’s how I’m interpreting it anyways)

The storyline is one that I haven’t seen before (death/ghost/afterlife tropes yeah, but not in this specific sense) so it was quite refreshing as it wasn’t just “oh I’m a ghost living in your house and bc of you helping me, we fall in love lol. (Cough cough, something in my room watch it if you haven’t it’s pretty good imo).

All in all I think the reason this show was so confusing was because of the short time they had allotted for it. Whether it was lack of funding to make the story longer or whatever reason we may never know. This could’ve been a lot easier to understand if we had more time to get to know the characters and their relationships with each other, especially mork and Mon. (And coincidentally Mon and tiew) I’d personally love to see more of Mon and the reason he plays the “stranger” game with mork and what the reason behind it was, (it did make for a pretty cute interaction between tiew and mork tho, unless that first interaction or so was with Mon) and if it played into more aspects of their life like work (when wise somehow confused Mon with mork). Like someone else mentioned, I think it would’ve been a great plot point to explore more with mork telling tiew about Mon and how tiew actually reacted initially, especially considering how they seemed fine on the bike ride. It would’ve been so enlightening to see morks struggle with his feeling about tiew and if it was purely just his inexperience, guilt because he knew Mon liked him as well, or both. Also would like to know more about what mork did while he was gone for those three years, and if he realized his feelings for tiew before he died or after. Mom’s struggle with his twin brother being in love with the same guy as him would’ve been great too, I mean hello? He said he didn’t date tiew while mork was gone, so. Though that could also just be chalked up to Mon somehow knowing that tiew liked mork and not him.

All in all, I think it’s worth a watch if you liked drawing your own conclusions about the characters relationships. It’s short so it’s not like it would take up too much time either so, yeah! Could be a good show to watch while in between episodes of another drama (since gmmtv and mandee like releasing their BL’s after one another and not at the same time)

(Spoilering just in case it spoils the show for anyone) True, however we have gotten bits and pieces of the world…
Of course! And yeah if it wasn’t for me being interested more in Yuma’s story and the fact that I like masumi’s actor, I would probably give up this drama too 😂 I think it’s main problem is that’s it’s just too short to show everything which is sad bc it could’ve had potential!

I don't feel like the subjects are treated well, the relationship for example, I feel like they're going to be…

True, however we have gotten bits and pieces of the world going crazy. They talk a lot about how the stores and hospitals were looted, men were considering hurting women just to get one last “good time” in before they died. In the matter of Yuma I think it’s more of a disbelief. He’s hoping for a miracle, but even if it seems stupid he also once gave up on life. I personally think his “infatuation” (if that’s the right words) with meguru and madoka is keeping him from being too extremely worried about his own family. That’s just my take though. It’s hard to focus on the storylines of the main characters while also showing “the end of the world” in only 8 episodes. But it does seem a little out there. I can understand why ritsu and masumi aren’t freaking out more, because masumi is too tied up in his trauma with ritsu, and ritsu as well, just with other things we haven’t really learned yet aside from slight mentions. I also agree with the not understanding the relationship aspect, but in a way you could chalk it up to “fuck around and find out”. I agree that while it’s stupid that masumi and ritsu are reforming their bond, i think it’s Yuma (and coincidentally meguru) that is in a way forcing them together. Masumi is too kindhearted to not take Yuma home, and ritsu is just plying along with that fact to win masumi back over.

What's going on, it says on facebook airing on March 9th. Can that be true?
From what I can see it’s looking like that will be a variety show with the actors that will be in the show? They opened auditions for the show back in February so depending on when they film we might not even see this series until late this year or next year

Right people complain when they don’t realize the main actors don’t have a whole bunch of main role experience…
If they did that then actors wouldn’t receive a lot of experience. Just because someone is better than them it doesn’t change that the writers and directors chose the actors for the role.

Yeah, I honestly just want so much more out of them because I know they have the talent, gmmtv just won’t let it happen

Right people complain when they don’t realize the main actors don’t have a whole bunch of main role experience i mean they are 19 and 21, not everyone is going to be exceptional at acting right off the bat

Do Phuwin has any series where his character is not a brat? I’ve been watching 4 series with him in it and all…
I think part of it is his young age tbh, he’s a great actor, but gmmtv love typecasting actors. I’ve seen it a lot and while it can be annoying, it’s also just how the acting world goes 🤷‍♂️
