After seeing today's episodes, I get what you mean. With only a few episodes left, the possibility of a happy ending for the main couple looks slim. We probably will not get a happy ending in the current timeline, but maybe in their next life? I mean, I remember I saw a photo where they’re wearing modern clothing, and DFYC seemed to be proposing. Have you seen it?

Oh God, I’m so nervous for the remaining episodes! With the heightening discord between the human and spirit alliances, I have no doubt that DFYC will be the one who suffers the most.
He will be so torn between his responsibilities to his people and his love for TSHH and the Tushan spirits he grew up with. Given his personality, I already can imagine the worst scenario.

I agree with 847563. I think it's expected to have many couples since the story itself is about matchmaking, as the title suggests. This story is also adapted from anime, and it's actually common in anime to have fillers, which often do not serve much purpose for the main plot. But I don't know whether these new couples can be categorized as fillers, or if they're actually carrying some significance for the plot moving ahead.
