For me, a difficult movie to like...or dislike I guess. I'm left sort of in the middle. The director made the choice to detach the audience from this story by switching back and forth between past and present in a very nonlinear way. I found it disorienting, then irritating, and finally disconnecting. But I think he did this on purpose. It seems we are not to make an attachment to these people, but only to observe them. In this way we only see what is happening to them and don't have the time nor enough information to make any judgements about them one way or the other. Halfway through the film, when I reached that point in my thoughts, I was able to relax and just observe the events. I certainly prefer movies that engage me emotionally with the story and the characters, but this was definitely a unique experience and worthwhile. Still, for me, emotional attachment is a huge factor in how I rate a film so I struggle with a rating...I guess it falls between 7 and 8 so a 7.5 it will be!!

I just finished watching at Kiss Asian and didn't find the subs horrible. They were at least in understandable…
oh yes, I totally understand that the subs are not anywhere near what they should be. It's just that the substance of the movie isn't completely destroyed by them. Also, they are understandable as far as tone for a lay watcher. I will definitely be watching for legal subs and hope the DVD comes out soon. The character development and facial expressions of the actors were so well done, you could almost watch with no subs and still get so much out of the movie. Also, this is a movie made for entertainment. It isn't a movie that requires a lot of introspection, so the dialogue doesn't need to be 100% (for me) to just sit back and enjoy it. That's why my ignorance of the Korean language works for me in this case!!! :) :)

I just finished watching at Kiss Asian and didn't find the subs horrible. They were at least in understandable English. I could tell they left out some things, but honestly, there is so much going on visually I didn't care that much. It is an awesome movie. Definitely going to be rewatching this one and buying it as soon as I can. 10/10 for me just for the pure entertainment of it all. Really Really well done zombie movie....best of the best!!

If you think this movie is amazing, which it is, you need to watch the series Awl, which I gave 10/10 for the amazing performances and terrific writing of a difficult subject. It is based on this same incident and covers the fight in far more detail. It was literally a life changing series for me, one that made me rethink my stance on why labor unions are far more than we think they are and why they are still needed.

The song DO sings at the end is breathtakingly beautiful....all the more so because of his voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kas7FHW8cCg

9.5/10 for the strong attempt to portray this complex issued in such a short amount of time.

KWB gave an amazing performance in this. He has nothing to apologize to his fans for and it's really sad he's been made to feel he has to. As far as the rest of the drama, lame melo script with, as everyone else is saying, people doing lame melo stuff that makes your eyes roll. Too bad. Loved all the performances. Just hated the low brow melo script. These performers deserved better.

Also known as Dragon, it's on Netflix as of this writing and has been for a long time. Donnie Yen at his best. Gorgeous cinematography, excellent script and very good acting. And, as usual, astounding martial arts displays. As good as the Ip Man movies.

Title ...ing Spoiler
"-ing" is the particle that is added to verbs in English in the present progressive tense, which is the continual tense of the present. It's the theme of the movie in that the mother especially strives throughout her daughter's short life to have her live for today. It is a great message used by many parents of terminally ill children.

People keep wondering what her illness was. They don't say....it's meaningless. What she has doesn't change what message the movie is trying to get across, however obviously.

This is a lovely movie and it got a lot of great reviews when it came out. It's hard to find fault when the performances are as wonderful and heartfelt as they are in this. I loved every minute of it. This is in spite of the fact that the movie is highly predictable in every way. We know going in that she will die at the end. Honestly, I think I would rate this movie higher if they had had the courage to NOT play the death card and instead have them face head on a life of uncertainties and showing the strength to battle through those as a couple. So I give it an 8.5 because I wished for a bit more from this than the textbook sad story. This is my second time watching this. It is just too lovely of a watch not to. And I will definitely watch it again in a few more years.

everyone says they love this drama, but why is the rating lower than i expected it to be? can someone explain?
I meant Noire's question...the ratings here on MDL have nothing to do with the ratings in Korea. That's done just like here in the US with boxes on the selected participants tv sets in Korea. The ratings in Korea averaged out to 4% which is very decent given that it is broadcast on a cable channel that only a very few people in Korea pay for. Or, did Noire mean the rating here on MDL which is an entirely different audience, far more international. I really kinda hoped this one would hit closer to the 9 mark here. Wishful thinking since I am so over the moon about it myself, as are my friends who watched. There are only a little over 300 people who have rated it though...showing the small audience it had. This I blame on Viki and Dramafever, neither of whom picked it up for subbing which royally pissed us off! ;) Some of us inundated them with requests for subbing....to no avail. It is so frustrating when quality adult programming like this is ignored. :( Anyway, if Noire was talking about the rating here, I'm with her/him...I expected and continue to hope for it to move higher. !!!

They don't come much more perfect than this one. An Adult Drama for adults. I bow down in adoration to tvN. So thankful every day for them. Between this, Signal, Memory, Misaeng, Cheese in the Trap, Reply 1988, Dear My Friends, Age of Youth and a host of other brilliant shows, they have a lock on the best of the best. The caliber of actors, directors, and producers that gravitate to tvN is amazing. Now if we could just get more of their shows subbed. Dying for After the Show Ends subs!!!!

Are you talking about the ratings in Korea or the rating here? Because I am also surprised at how low the rating is here. Or maybe I shouldn't be based on the type of questions being asked about how much romance there is and who she ends up with. :( SMH Hopefully the ratings will go up here now that the final episode has finally been subbed. The adults who have been addicted to this show for what it really is should rate it very high.

Gorgeous to look at, erotic, dark, fascinating. But soft porn is soft porn, no matter how pretty or beautifully written or acted it is. The story was riveting, and the saturation of color in the cinematography, as well as the phenomenal sets, were an absolute feast for the senses on their own. I wonder if Kim Tae Ri will now disappear like so many of these young ingenues who get roped into doing nude scenes in Korean movies. Or god forbid, commit suicide like some others. 8.5/10

I've watched hundreds of dramas. They don't come any better than this one. Beautifully unique, superb writing, perfect casting, wonderful acting. It needed at least a couple more episodes, but the ending is very very typical of cable and jTBC in particular. It was really remarkable in every way

Excellent performances. Frustrating and infuriating story of bureaucratic ineptitude of criminal proportions. The beginning of the film through almost the end was very well done. Despite her idiocy of trusting criminals, and her bewildering decision to do what she did to get them out of debt, the end results of what happened to her were so unjustified. My research into what actually happened to her, especially after she came back to Korea, dampened my enjoyment of the movie a bit. She has struggled for acceptance and her family have been ostracized, so the so called netizens and the press were not the saviors this movie makes them out to be, though I'm sure they helped speed things up considerably when they did get involved. I found the ending to be forgivably melo, the wailing violins and piano creating unnecessary drama to an already melodramatic ending. Even so, the overall feeling from this movie was one of frustration and sadness at just how quickly a person can be abandoned in a foreign country, at least if you are Korean. 8/10

What pills do they give her in prison every night in France? :/
sleeping pills. She says it very quickly in one of her voice overs...something like the sleeping pills they give us, etc. They don't explain why, but I suspect it's because they get 'tired of' the nightmares and screaming. And perhaps because the night shift guards want to sleep themselves? :(

Interesting movie. The story is tragic, but you know that going in. I'm left feeling a bit ... disappointed? I'm not sure that's exactly it? Somehow the movie did not pull me in like I though it should have. I think maybe it is the format of flashbacks interspersed with the 'interrogation' scenes that, for me. interrupted the flow and the emotions this movie should have evoked in me. I loved the look, the cast, the acting. The interrogations scenes were, however, off putting and disruptive. I also found them a bit implausible and too obvious as a device to sort of 'preach to the audience'. I don't mean the movie was bad at all. It's just that I expected more I guess. Still, it is 8/10 for me. It went by amazingly fast. I WISH the final scroll of dates and events had been translated. It appeared to be a timeline of some sort. That was very disappointing. Definitely a really good movie and makes me want to know more. Like how did his poems survive?
