I think it's both. 🤔His parents pushed his career on him and remind him all the time that he's not good enough in their eyes and remind him constantly that he's given this career and all the privileges to him regardless of whether he wanted it or not. Hopefully his character grows.

I kind of wonder if TianZhen is trying to get that feeling of being depended on and valued from MengMeng. His parents don't see him being smart/good enough in Chinese medicine, and everyone sees him as (ok, this part...he rlly is) born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He never has to worry about starving or not being able to take a taxi. I notice he also takes things for granted and doesn't understand his friend's struggle, being a person with no connections. He gave his friend's spot to MengMeng without asking or even thinking about what it means to him. It's like one of his only opportunities to network with the some of the best of the best in that field. Like I really wonder when he's going to get slapped awake.
