OK so, everything about shoving Sin Dae Ryuk's abuser in his face again aside, because this week made some truly nightmarish choices...Even before that, it was astounding how the script and direction chose to skip around the basic explanation of how he works, plumbing the depths of some serious trauma. Why couldn't Ma Eum explain, even to the show producer who was so triggering, that Dae Ryuk's work is first and foremost a way to work through some of his issues? All it would take is a basic, sensitive line of explanation but instead they're doing some wild narrative gymnastics to extend the misunderstandings around his character, a victim of serious abuse. I'm so saddened and mistreatment of this issue has ruined my enjoyment of the entire drama. As a side note, artist Bomme and her cats are always a joy to see onscreen. I wish we had more of them.
Dragged on a bit longer than it needed to but generally a fun Friday night movie! The musical score was awesome, the comedic bits (the penguin, lmfaooo) were great, and it looked like they had fun making it. And SEHUN!
