I agree with you!! I tended to skip the copaganda, as well as the second couple (mostly because if the man can barely take care of his child... can he really handle a partner?), and even with that it got a bit too draggy for me towards the end. I was going back and forth between a 7.5 and an 8, because I really did enjoy the main leads' story, but ended up with a 7.5 since I technically fast-forwarded through half the story xD
I kept hoping the 30th episode would have something new, and while I did enjoy Lu Chen's point of view of the whole thing, nothing was really added and I felt like my time was wasted. Thanks for the review!
I really enjoyed the drama, but I fast-forwarded through all of the police stuff since not only am I not into the career in general, but I also didn't enjoy the preach-y nature of it. The main leads' chemistry was good, and their love story was sweet, but I agree with you about the kids and the weird flashback timings (especially the last episode!)
100% agreed. The characters were poorly developed and the whole alcohol storyline was tossed away as if it wasn't a major problem in the beginning. Also, with S. Korea's alcohol culture, it would have been cool to see a show emphasize that you don't need alcohol to have fun and that the people and the food you eat with them is what's important.
Though webtoons does explain better it’s own ending is also rushed and also the series ending and webtoons ending…
It's already been mentioned in other comments! But basically:
In the manhwa, Denis was actually a minor god that took care of Dongbaek and resented the director for causing Dongbaek's death. He did the same thing as in the show - tried to kill the director and Dongbaek stepped in - but when he saw he stabbed Dongbaek instead, he gave up his life in order to save Dongbaek. Dongbaek forgets his memories all over again and the director leaves him alone fearing he'll cause his death again. Then something falls (or he falls? Can't remember) and it flashes him back to when the director got hurt protecting him and he regains back his memories. He says something like, "I said I'd remember you this time and I forgot you... (cries) I'm sorry" and then happily ever after!
Does anybody know exactly who or what is Dennis? He really wasn't given much explanation accept him being clearly…
I said it below but in the manhwa, Denis was a minor god in Dongbaek's first life that was supposed to watch over him and make sure he lived a good life. When Yudam intervened and essentially caused Dongbaek's death, Denis grew to resent him. Denis was also a part of all of Dongbaek's lives and saw the many times Yudam and Dongbaek would meet and then Dongbaek would die. So he hates Yudam for all of that.

The ending was unsatisfying. And can someone explain Denis? Is he connected to their past lives? Just a nut/stalker…

He wasn't mentally ill like they portray him in the drama, just angry at Yudam.
To be honest, the entire ending is different from the manhwa. Not bad, just different. But I think if you haven't read the manhwa it can get pretty confusing.
They are indeed a mess. If you watch enough C-Dramas you shouldn't have too many issues, but if not it can get…
It's not too bad, I did understand most of the plot by the subtitles alone, but if I didn't know some Mandarin there definitely would be some confusion with some sentences. Instead of "your wife" it'll say "my wife," because in the Mandarin they just said "wife" so the subtitles misunderstood whose wife it is. It's that type of thing.
In my opinion, i think they're leaving the second couple's story open because they're planning a separate series…
Tbh after watching this I don't want a spin off. They had so much potential with both the show and this special and unfortunately they didn't meet my expectations. But if you liked it that's good! Everyone's got different likes :)
And yeah - I feel like the 2nd CP was just... weird. The only link they had was the kid and I feel like there wasn't even chemistry.
