@sasal is not wrong.. Characters like deng yuhan, ZCR and tang fang should have been more bloomed (speaking as our friend is reading novel) & LCZ, crazy yan were suddenly weak... So yeah that production fault. But yeah cy carried the show so it only makes sense.

He has three characters here. Main character Qui Shui has love interest. They only express their feelings in eyes. And another character Li Chen Zhou has wife. They also have subtle to nothing. This series don't have any confessions or intimacy.

He doesn't think like that. This is the story of his growth. For sure this story was slaughtered by script writers. And yeah many characters should have been shown powerful not petty. So you are not entierly wrong. But it is not that bad. It was worth the hype and time.

Li lian hua was sickly, poor and someone who is 30 but gravely ill. Why would he wore gorgeous clothing. It was something Li Xiang Yi would. Li lian hua has gave up being LXY 10 years ago. It only makes sense that way.
