I feel the same way; it’s one of the rare times a female character has really captivated me—finally, a sensitive, gentle, non-toxic woman in a BL. The ballroom décor faithfully reproduces the details described in the novel (including the chandeliers on the ceiling). However, it was not Zhou Yang's family who had Shen Mo hospitalized.
It’s rare for a series to be so faithful to the novel (except for the "NC" scenes, lol). I hope you finally realize that there is absolutely nothing toxic about Mr. Ji! Until you understand that Mr. Ji would give his very life out of selfless love for Shen Mo, you’ll miss the point and get annoyed with one character or the other for no reason. And just because he talks to another guy doesn't mean he's being unfaithful. Enjoy the series! P.S. And as always, the acting quality of the Chinese cast is amazing.

I hate DMD; everything is based on creating and promoting fake, bogus couples. The actors are treated like cattle and puppets, meant to satisfy the sexual fantasies of moronic fans. It’s really sad. But I do like the series—it’s not the actors' fault.

A bit confusing but it’s intriguing. Shen Mo is a very pitiful character and I hope he gets much needed development…
M Ji doesn't need to change; his love is boundless, respectful, and steadfast. He constantly proves this through both small and significant gestures. His only concern is Shen Mo's ex, while Shen Mo's concern is the contract, which gives her the mistaken impression that she has been bought.
I can't with Shen Mo's pathetic and pitiful monologues, like I get it you and Mr. Ji are not in a actual relationship…
It seems like you didn't understand the plot at all. The entire series is based on Shen Mo's narration anyway; if that doesn't resonate with you, you're better off giving up.
