I just finished the drama. The premise was good. But I am not fond of a lot of the characters in this drama. Who I hate the most is the mom... and I hate how they resolved that part of the story. I was so looking forward for some tear jerking scene, but I'm disappointed on how things unfolded. But over all, it was a nice, slow paced, short drama... and less dramatic than I expected.
For me, "This is a story of Qiu Yue's selfless love." It was a good drama. It focuses on the love between the main leads until the end. Even the side characters that I thought would be so evil is all about love.
This drama is about a divorced couple and former lovers and how both pairs deal with their relationship issues and family situations. The first 3 episodes is more like a prologue...
Anyway, for the pre-divorce part, I did think Wang Dashu (Mike He) is the bad guy... but as the story progresses, I never felt Chu Zhihe's (Gillian Chung) love for Dashu. Ever. She always find ways to escape the issues and just not help solve it with him. I always thought that they were not fit for each other at all. But yeah, both have bad parts in them. But I think there are more good parts with Dashu.
I enjoyed the secondary couple and their story more... but I hate how Zhihe spends a lot of time with House and still implies she likes Dashu...
The most surprising thing for me is WEN YI FAN, the actor playing GRUNT, is actually 32 years old! He looks so young.. that I thought he's around Hu Yitian's age range..
How is the drama so far? Interesting? Worth diving into this?
You might be bored at first, but as I describe it, it grows on you. Even the side stories, you might not be interested in them at first, but it grows on you. You might expect fluff and sweet romance right from the start, but it's not. However, just be patient and continue watching it. The drama was not even gaining much attention from the start in CN... it's just after a few episodes that it gained popularity to the viewers and they saw how detailed and good the series is. It's not makjang with the rollercoaster ride of emotions but it's not as light as you might think. But one thing is consistent for me... I smile each episode...
FYI, Yang Zi and Li Xian both attended Beijing Film Academy at the same time (class of 2010) and they are in the same Faculty. They attended with Zhang Yishan, Yang Zi's former screen/drama partner. Some photos were posted on weibo showing Li Xian and Zhang Yishan playing basketball, and Yang Zi was watching.
I guess, that's probably why Yang Zi and Li Xian are so comfortable with each other and really jokes around during filming. :)
I'm not sure if this is really a spoiler... It's actually a question... so... the K&K Manager and SOLO???
It's not yet shown but I see scenes of these 2 in the teasers etc.
I haven't read the 2 prequel books... but seriously? The manager is married. She's a very minor character in Stewed Squid with Honey book... It was never mentioned to whom she is married... But if they were related in the past, they never showed any reactions towards each other in their scenes. Anyway, this would make sense about that part where the Manager said it was her fault that Team Solo got disbanded (??)... but in the book, if I'm correct, it was appledog who wants out.
(My wild guess is she's a 3rd party and got preggy. But she married a different guy. Not Solo. OR they married and got divorced.)
Oh well, then, I'd be so happy for Dt and appledog... more hope. Hahahahaha
If anyone knows if the real story was written in the 2 prequels, can someone let me know. Thanks!
I was excited until i saw the 41 episodes, guarantee they gonna add some unnecessary drama :(((((, why does it…
I'm not sure about this, but I heard some rumors around 2017? when the drama was still on its planning stage, that they were planning to include some parts of the other books. This drama is mainly based on the 3rd book. The 2 books were prequels... So, I guess, they'll include Dt and Apple's story here. (Dt is Hu Yitian).. So that's probably why it got longer? And the screenwriter is the author herself.
