The Empress broke my heart. Her wisher CSS and LBY are her kids in the next life was everything for me. LBY and CSS getting that mama love. A the Empress ad Consort you is honestly the romance I didn’t know I needed in this drama. The support for each other, no animosity, just sisters trying to do their best with the hand they were dealt.

CSS and LBY are going down as one of my top fave couples, but what I really loved is with all the villains and their pettiness, friendships and loyalty stood out the most. CSS, Qiqi, and Yang Yang……the love the emperor, empress, and consort Yue had for their fallen “brother” Huo, the brothers loyalty to their little sister. The princes, all three in their own way stepped up to the plate in their own way with their personalities. Who knew 3rd prince would be second wifey (joke ). This show was everything. Now I want to see the footage they had to cut to get the episodes down, because you know this could have been 80 episodes and not dragged one bit.

I felt so sad for him at that moment. It’s like everything he wants is just within grasp, and this moment he knows it’s gone. That was heartbreaking to see though I’m team LBY. Frankly, CSS would make a good wife to any of her 3 fiancés. The girl is loyal to a fault.

I don’t blame her age or maturity. She is an abuse victim, acting like an abuse victim. She now has some power to stand up for herself, she only knows how to rely on herself because honestly, I’ve only seen her brothers and LBY stand up for her. With her brothers they have no power to help, with LBY he has to much power for her to trust right now that it won’t turn on her. The people who are supposed to protect her came back and didn’t stand up for her (in her eyes). I think she is acting appropriately given her experiences, even if I wish she was more cautious and thought about the ramifications more.

The smiles between the empress and consort is everything. Someone below stated they are ying and yang, which is so true. Love the fact that they support each other and know their strength and weaknesses. Emperor is so lucky. So is the Empress, if Consort Yue was malicious or vindictive, she would have eaten her alive.

She was summoned there and she didn’t interrupt until they wanted to use the princess consort as a scapegoat. CSS is all about girl power. Could she handle things better, yes, but she didn’t barge in, she was brought into the conflict by the princess consort. Girl was at home trying to chill.

I’m going to rewatch, but is the empress and consort yue half sisters? I’m assuming when she is speaking of her “sister” she means the empress, then princess. Or maybe they just refer to each other like that? These women are probably the most loyal (so far) harems I’ve seen in c dramas. Now their kids is another issue.

Consort Yue and the Empress are everything! Seriously wondering where their daughters went wrong with these two as examples. And General Huo was one of a kind, no wonder they dote on LBY.

As many enemies as CSS is amassing (most to do with her marriage) she is also cultivating alliances just by being her loyal self. QiQi’s family is powerful, she’s earned the respect and gratitude of LYs wife just because she considers LY her family and the wife respects that. YS is arrogant but I still don’t think he would allow anything to happen to CSS and he has his own power in different ways.

She like A’Yao because he gave her the security that she was somewhat in control of her life. With LBY, he has all the power in the relationship and she doesn’t know him well. Yes he saved her life, but they haven’t really talked. Though she does trust him a little bit. But with his powers and her not having none, he could really pull on her what his father did to his mother, so she is cautious of him.

Exactly! She always thinks she is in the right because her husband and sons make her think that. @enigma05 you are so right, the emperor was disgusted. They did more harm to their own reputation than anything or anyone else. And frankly I somewhat got where the parents were coming from, but not two episodes ago mom was stating that he would be a good match. Then they expect their daughter to just obey after they crush her like that.

This! It was the parents who were embarrassing themselves and CSS had to stand up and defuse the situation. Emperor was about to remove some rank at that moment.

I had to rewatch episode 24 to see if I would revise my view of the mom. Nope, made me angrier. It was really telling when the royal men (emperor, the princes, and LBY seemed appalled at what the mother was saying about her own daughter. Mom messed up daughters reputation herself by saying this in front of those catty women, but I wonder how people are now looking at the mom to say that in front of everyone about her own child. I wouldn’t be looking down on CSS, I would be looking down on the parents. They could have hired a nanny to make sure CSS was properly educated. And as much as they preach manners to CSS, they lack in it themselves.

One thing I see in the comments is love love love. Yes we all want love and we especially want CSS to experience that love, but in that time marriage wasn’t about love. If you chose the wrong husband, your life was miserable. Her ,other was lucky she found a decent man to lobe her, but the majority of these women are in relationships decided b other people. LBY will love CSS, but he has a lot of status and all eyes will be on her. So happy spoilers say the queen will teach her, teach her what her mother hasn’t. Her mom preaches manners, but frankly hasn’t shown them herself….actually, most of the people who look down on CSS hasn’t shown good manners or decorum.

I can’t wait to see her jealous of the queen. Or when CSS is with her aunt. Now she can feel what CSS feels when she favors YY.

I said the same in a reply below. And sadly the mom still doesn’t realize she did more harm to her daughters marriage prospects and reputation than anything CSS has done. With the words her mother said in front of the emperor about her own child, I would imagine many mothers would be hesitant to marry their daughters into the Cheng household.

The problem with the mom being so harsh, if CSS didn’t accept the proposal, no other man will propose to a woman whose own mother speaks like that about her in public, let alone to the emperor. She essentially told the world her own daughter is useless. Yes, there are reasons (good ones) as to why she said it, but how she went about it probably did more damage to CSS reputation than anything CSS could do. And how do you take your daughter to see the emperor and not even shoe her how to properly bow, they just sprouted words at her and showed her nothing.
