Yeah initially I jumped around to only YWY+QS scenes...but then I went back again to fill in some blanks. Some scenes that don't have both characters also show the progression of their relationship. For example, there was a touching scene between Wu Chen and YWY in which YWY told Wu Chen how much QS meant to him

This ending is still better than if QS still loved LLW haha...which seemed totally possible for most of the series since she loved LLW until up to like ep 30s

Both are one of "si da hu fa" something like guardians of the dragon sect? Skipped through many scenes so someone else might be able to better answer this question lol. Wu Chen knew YWY since childhood. YWY is the only person who has seen Wu Chen's burned face. I don't think they mentioned exactly how they knew each other in childhood, but I may have skipped over that part too

I think the directors got lazy or they just wanted to save money. For LLW/XL they had to add new stuff otherwise there is no possible "happy ending". But for YWY/QS the way ep 47 ended, it already suggested that the two ended up together so the directors just gave us this....but yeah super disappointing.

Also can't help but think about the parallels between XL falling off cliff and QS falling off the cliff. LLW did not jump after XL, but YWY chose to jump. Perhaps LLW was much farther away from XL than YWY was from QS....but in moments like these I doubt anyone has time to think about anything. It was pure reflex from YWY. I don't know if this translates to YWY loving QS more....but it definitely would pull at QS's heartstrings more. Here is when QS becomes closer to YWY as she realizes the depth of his love.

Directors just left the ending open to broad interpretation. They suggest that YWY may have found YQS and left with her, while faking his own death to the royal court.

People here disagree about the Special ending with LLW/Xiao Lian. You can read above and below for some interpretations from other viewers. Personally, I believe LLW was dreaming about the ending when he meets Xiao Lian.

I've resorted to believing LLW must be hallucinating...I'm more confused about the YWY ending tbh loll...like what was that?! Waited all these days just for a bunch of repeat scenes -_- there is literally no purpose..

Definitely LLW did not love QS the same way he loved XL. When LLW and QS were in a boat and QS asked him directly if he loved her...he could not bring himself to say he loved her.
In multiple scenes throughout the series LLW reflects back on XL. It's obvious he could not let go of XL and those past memories.
He demonstrated that he did not fully trust YQS in multiple instances, hurting QS and pushing her further away from him. I think this was one of the major differences between LLW and YWY and something that YQS came to realize as well....although both LLW and YWY were both cautious around YQS since her identity/purpose was unknown, YWY never hesitated to protect YQS in any scenario. LLW cast QS aside when he wrongly believed that QS hurt his mother and Luo Yun. In contrast, even though YWY knew QS loved LLW and was helping LLW (the enemy), YWY would always always chose to protect QS first. His love for QS was pure and unconditional. LLW was drawn towards QS but he could not forget XL. It was LLW's loss that he could not truly appreciate YQS. Even though QS's scar was destroyed and her memory lost, she still must have had virtually the same personality and way of talking/carrying herself as XL did. And she loved LLW through much of the series. He had everything on his side, but he did not make good use of the opportunities given to him.

XL said she spent the last 3 years sewing her bridal dress. I think this and the fact that she is immediately in love with LLW right away again are major red flags. It is inconsistent with the character of QS and everything that happened previously. It is obvious who QS loves by the end of the series. For her to suddenly see LLW and immediately say that she is ready to spend the rest of her life with him is ridiculous. Instead, this is what LLW wishes would happen as he stood at the place where he and XL shared so many memories. And it makes sense that he would dream of XL with her scar....the person he knew and the person who loved him.

I think someone else here mentioned before that YQS loves YWY in the novel but QS dies.

Lol if she's allowed to stay with both then no one will be happy I'd imagine...

YWY did say he would take care of some things and then take QS away from the palace. We'll never find out...unless there's a sequel

My two questions were: how did the scar get there? how did she wait there for 3 years? then it negates everything that happened in the whole series. As you said, everything seems figurative/symbolic, more like "happy ending" in LLW's head rather in real life.

Do you know what went on in the YQS+LLW alternative ending? Was LLW just hallucinating in the end? I can't figure out how else it can be...which means it's not really a happy ending for them..
Anyhow, most of this ep we've seen before as it's mostly memories scenes....hope the 12/27 one with YWY will be all new scenes !!

Yaaa she decides that she does not deserve happiness because LLW died for her but she doesn't consider that she is hurting YWY by leaving him :( or she did but that still could not prevent her from leaving....

I can see what you're saying. But I feel that with YQS hurt and all three of them calmly there, it didn't look like LLW would've killed YWY. YWY saved LLW few times in the past so LLW is indebted to YWY. Plus LLW respects YWY as a righteous leader. I guess I just think the series could've explained things better. But you are right, YQS probably just did it for YWY to be able to leave that dangerous place quickly regardless of whether she thought LLW would kill YWY or not

Can someone explain how she was protecting YWY by verbally choosing LLW? Wouldn't LLW have let them go if she did choose YWY? Just as YWY accepted the result I feel like LLW would've accepted it too because he's a good person too. Or even if he doesn't accept it I don't think he'll kill YWY?

I feel like it's unbelievable that YQS will be happier with LLW if she no longer loves him compared to sharing YWY with other people (esp considering YWY says he will only love YQS even if he does have other wives). I think she must have left YWY in order to help him focus on building the country for the sake of the people...we shall find out very soon o_o it kills me knowing that she's wavering between two people when i think it's impossible to love two people at the same time but I guess her whole love life has been very messed up in ways out of her control
