I didn't know there was a Chinese version of one of my all time favorite kdramas! :O It's really hard digging up good contemporary set Chinese dramas, I hope this one keeps me interested though I'm seeing some mixed reviews. :/
drama > movie
I really like the premise of the show, the whole idea of the fantasy/game world intervening with the real word, and how the main couple had bunch of interactions through the game and thus developed feelings for each other. That's the main thing this movie is missing. I'm not really sold on the idea of the couple, it's super rushed. Plus, that time skip at the end came out of nowhere.
If you are a fun of the novel / drama, you'll enjoy it - I did, but not that much. It's still cool to see a different adaptation. Don't get me wrong, I am far from thinking that the drama is superior in the comparison. It's better in terms of interactions and character development, but for example I preferred the idea of WeiWei joining Xiao Nai's company and having actual part in its success, instead of drama's WeiWei who was dumbed down for no reason (she's said to be super competent and smart and wants to be a game designer, and they keep her as an intern the whole time?).
Anyway, if I ever watch this movie again I will need a piano-in-the-background-during-the-whole-length-of-the-movie-LESS version. It's annoying as fuck and really brings out new heights of cheesiness.
The only thing I don't like as to how these few last episodes got wrapped up is that the writers totally dropped Jeong Won as soon as Pyo NaRi made her choice. He didn't get any kind of closure or character development. Another thing is this drama was about never giving up on your dreams, and Pyo NaRi wanted and fought to be an announcer throughout the whole 24 episodes, for her to give up on that right at the end and be like yeah, weather is where I'm happy it. I didn't buy that.
Everything else, perfect.
This was so boring!!!1111 The best part about the show was the mystery (i knew nothing about the drama, didn't even watch the trailer so I could not make any assumptions prior to watching) and the (healing) bromance. Everything else was so lacking, the cases were ridiculous, everything was dumbed down, didn't really care for the love line because not much attention was being payed to it and I didn't mind. Choi Won Young is in my opinion not a very good actor, so I didn't enjoy his time on the screen. Love the plot line, but it's far from well executed. Really childish take in fact. Idk why such a high rating, but to each his own I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
She could have cut herself without making such a scene. Also, why cut her wrist instead of legs for example. Soo…
How I see it: the princes were pleading for her freedom and it was not working, in the moment she panicked (keep in mind that the king was about to enter her chambers and sleep with her),she wanted the kings attention, so she broke the vase and cut herself. I'm guessing HaeSoo knew what she was doing (avoiding to make a deeper cut and risk her life). Someone cutting of their veins is a shocking sight, right - it was the best way to convey how hopeless she felt. and simply it's survivor instinct. She did not have the time to consider if she'll scar or to chose the right spot.
I hope there are no more 2 versions of each episode because the subbers will have more hard work and we have to…
It seems like all the sites are having the same subtitles.. As far as I have seen, only myasiantv.com have uploaded the version that was showed on SBS for Korean audience (I watched the live stream for last 2 eps), and yet the extra parts were not subbed :/
For those of you who don't know, in the director's cut they added some extra scenes between the #4th prince and Soo. There are no subs for the episodes yet, though.
First thing I'm doing after completing this drama is putting all of JKH's dramas on my watch list!! He was AMAZING. And I'm not using that term lightly. If you really pay attention to his acting, and really care about those little details in delivering.. it's a heaven for the eyes.

And Wang So realized he has fallen for Soo, did not see that coming :O
