After 4 episodes. The series is great, but I am SOOOOOOOO ANNOYED by that goat noise they add. I normally don't…
i find it amusing just bc in episode 1, upon seeing the pile of greens on the dinner table, Sung Dong Il says, āhey! weāre not goats, you know. whatās with this pile of grass?ā (netflix subs)
then in the next scene, Kim Sung Kyun says, āhey. treat me well while iām here- iām the Village Scapegoat.ā (which Iām sure is some sort of pun that mostly went over my head)
while some of the subtitles may be an improvement, Netflix really diluted this drama by blurring out all the TV screens, cassette & record labels, etc, and also removing some of the songs (Wild Thing playing during the game of catch, for instanceā¦) iām sure that is all a matter of copyright clearances and whatnot, but itās an aspect of the show thatās ālost in translationā
iām glad that itās on Netflix, though, so that a much wider audience can see this masterpiece. itās definitely a re-watcher.
ok.. i started this looong ago, but it just didnāt click for me. after watching a Bunch more dramas of varying genres (and origins: K, C, J, Thai dramas), i swung back around, as iām a bit bored waiting for new eps of the currently airing shows iām viewing. Iāve seen countless rave reviews of this.
just finished ep 1, going into 2⦠and this is terrifying and kinda triggering. (i guess i just realized why i couldnāt get thru it before..? hmm. a Q for my therapist, i guess- thatās good. we needed something new to prattle on about.)
yes, friend. i know. itās fictional. but these children, left to their own devices, with zero limitations or adult supervision.. itās freakin Lord of the Flies. and maybe thatās the point? Flies were indeed mentioned in ep 1. but is it also .. still happening? (itās always been happening. and itās terrifying)
i guess my titular question is.. does this show get better? or will i be stressed, triggered and angry the whole time? (also will Lee Min Hoās characterās hair-do improve over time?) i donāt want to invest 24 more hours of my very limited time to something that will keep me in panic/fight-or-flight mode emotionally. thanks in advance for your input and advice. āļø
I'm rewatching too. I I agree that it's better on second viewing and LSK's acting is all the more impressive.…
i get what youāre saying re IU, but for some reason i absolutely adore her. (might have to do with her song Eight, which hits me in the heart every time i hear it) šš¤
He is very good at his craft. I have enjoyed watching him in everything I've seen him in. The musical numbers in The Sound of Magic were a special treat... but his action roles. Yes. He was made for action! Although I can't imagine the brutal schedule and non stop workout. (I was watching something recently and the main characters were just.. RUNNING so much- i could never. LOL)
Can you recommend more from this era that are this good and this engaging? Iām on ep 12 of this, and loving…
I am currently watching Moving, which is not really like this, but VERY good. Also finally watching the K2 (again- not really this genre, but very good) I'm just kind of bouncing around. too many things on my plan to watch list and on my currently watching list. LOL.
Okay, I absolutely WANT the dress that FL is wearing at the 61st celebration/inauguration. (Episode 12). If anyone has any leads on where to find it, please comment. I have something vaguely similar from the early 90s, but I really love this one.

one of my fave surprises was the āratā from CLOY hiring a āratā for himself.
this is a beautifully crafted drama. i donāt think itās overrated at all. 10/10.
