So I had to stop halfway through the first episode to give a first impression. I like how they have managed to switch up the story enough that it's not just watching the same drama again. And when our two leads first meet in the elevator! Man, I think Satoh is actually getting better looking with age.
I've only watched through 4 so maybe I'll change my mind, but right now the FL is annoying me so much. If I was the ML, I would have written her off so fast.
Also I've never really thought before about how hurt and confused Duan Jiaxu must have been when she basically cut him out of her life after that. I know she had to in order to move on, but he lost contact with someone he thought of as family.
Rewatching parts of this because it my feel-good comfort watch. I think Sang Zhi really grew up at the end of episode 7 (if you know you know) when she had to let go of that childhood dream for good.
can’t lie I just can’t ignore that age gap, especially as he knew her when she was 14 and he was 19. that…
Like others commented, they met very few times when she was in middle school then there was a long gap before they met again. The novel and the drama make it very clear the way she sees Duan Jiaxu in a more romantic light is one-sided, and he sees her only in the role of his best friend's sister and by extension his. That, and the time jump to when she's in college, help me get over the age gap.
I will give the FL some grace in that she did plan to go with him in the end but really if she was going to turn around and ditch everything anyway what was the point of the betrayal and marriage in the end.
The more I think about it the more I dislike the FL. Unless I misunderstood it, she was already engaged when she went into the relationship with Seo Dong. Whether she was being forced to marry the other guy or not, it doesn't excuse her leading the male lead on for so long and never discouraging his intensity in the relationship all the way up to implying they were going to be married someday. No matter what her excuse, she screwed him over big time.
He's worked for the chairman for several years and was close enough at one time to take pictures with the family, but never saw a picture of the granddaughter. Really!
I thought the study scene with the younger version of our leads and Hong In-a used subtle body language to tell our MLs feeling even back then. He's so tense and resentful with HIA, but his posture and face relaxes every so slightly when he looks at HHJ.
