Same, I haven't watched a good drama for so long, and I can't wait for this one. It looks so good.

Any bromance in this?

I can't wait for this. I've been browsing so many dramas and can't get myself to watch anything to my taste. This drama is exactly what I need and It can't come soon enough.

Idk, I think people perceive two females holding hands, sleeping in the same bed, showering together, or peeing together as 'innocent', but when it comes to 2 males it's gay gay gay. It's a toxic trait shared worldwide, and China thinks it does 'harm' to their communities and culture. Just a bad situation all around. Also, I agree with that bl is already censored, it's washed down to bromance, and even in the script, weizhao said his future 'wife', and they still blocked this drama.

Both of those are on Tencent.
League of Noble gentlemen was released with no difficulty, if Tencent does it right, they can release wik and hyx as well. Lets hope they learned from Youku and don't make the same mistake.

No, I believe her, I didn't doubt it. The circumstances with this drama and Youku just gets weirder and weirder the more you dig into it. I also agree that JITD could've been a test for more dramas to come. Since the drama is left on the channel online, I think 'maybe' the test passed? maybe they will release the rest of the episodes later? Let's see, maybe Youku left it for promotion or garner buzz around the drama, and they might release it later.

Wait, really, they did? How come I never heard about this? I'm getting all my info second hand, but this is the first time I'm hearing they received their license this year. The mystery just keeps growing, why even bother, and who gave them the license. They should have known it was bl, and since bl has been halted, why even give it to them? wth, I'm so confused. I'm sure they watched it before they gave the license, or did they just give them out without watching and approving first. This should become one of those alien mystery documentaries, lol.

They got it in 2021, or 2020, I'm not 100% sure, but that was a producing, rights license, not a broadcasting approval. The complete ban was introduced mid 2022, So I think the license they had already expired. It's just a messed up situation all around. I think, personally, Youku was trying to test the waters with the govt. and see how bad the repercussions would be. It's sad that it took JITD to be their subject.

The drama not being removed from the site is indeed weird. I have a little hope in me, where I think the first 8 episodes were for promotional reasons, and the rest will be released some other time. Honestly, there is no real answer anywhere. Only Youku knows whats going on, and they are being silent.

It's just one of the 'reasons' I've heard on youku's JITD drama page, I don't know how authentic it is, but them not advertising gives a lot of fuel to it.

But like I said, the reason it is halted is because it's BL. There's no other excuses for it.

Same. I was so excited, specially since the main leads are so cute, but now I'm hearing how non-bromantic it is....Sigh.

JITD never had a release date, and It wasn't approved by anyone higher up, govt. etc. One of the few 'debates/reasons' I've seen for this being halted is because Youku dropped the series without a warning. There's a reason why JITD doesn't have a trailer, and another reason why It was never showcased on the streaming site (ads) on the front page (All new dramas are advertised on front page when they premier - for a week atleast). Youku probably thought they could release it silently, but it started trending on Weibo, and caused a halt.
It's just one of many things going on. The picture controversy isn't that serious, they apologized and moved on, and that's not the reason why it got halted. Chinese govt. has their own 'bureau' I guess that keeps an eye on streaming videos and Youku probably got caught and the drama got halted. Main reason for halt is BL, there's no other real reason behind it.

Once again, I am here begging China to have mercy on me, and to release this drama. Please!!! China loves to compete, but they are losing the competition in the BL industry, please China, think of all the points you will achieve.

They aren't. Their last statement on Weibo was to have hope and faith.

They removed a lot of bromance/bl elements from that drama, so it's easy for them. At this point, I wouldn't mind if they removed and edited out all of bl/bromance from JITD, and broadcast the rest of the show. The bromance/bl can be released separately on youtube.
