Had I not read the comments from novel readers, I would still think like you. Drama didn't explain anything for non-novel readers. So he gave all his power to save her, but he thought it's too late and she's really dead. The maze is made only so that people can enter but can't get out. He already weak and no power, Xy is gone, so he just wanted to die with her but still keep her body from burning fire.

Lol right! I mean, he's on his way to protect her. He fought XL previously and he's as powerful as him. But the night that he nearly got killed, he literally had 2 ladies to save him lol

He's not alone tho, CX also sacrifices everything to get power to protect her. And what hurt the most is he CHOOSES that way.. I keep asking myself, why does he reject her multiple times, girl gives so many hints already, ep 27 was so heart breaking 😭

That's why since beginning I said that NONE of them is good for her. But it's the author that wrote all characters with flaws. Xy enjoying her life so much (to the point she wanted to be a Xiaoliu forever) until they came in to her life. Girl just wanna be happy. So I just enjoy the drama and see where the story goes (didn't read the novel)

Did you know what's more disturbing? UL with an eunuch ML having affair and sleep with Emperor's concubine FL, also there's emperor's mother who loves him. That's wild. But nonetheless I watched it anyway since it's only a fiction and WHD lol
