“You have to win at your life.”

a perfect blend of heartwarming and action-packed moments that keeps you at the edge of your seat as jeong-do becomes more familiar with being a marital arts officer and we follow his journey in catching those who refuse to atone. the first half was filled with lots of fun and more lighthearted moments before the turning point in the middle of the film, leading into the tense second half where all the characters we’ve met so far work together to take down the most disgusting character i’ve seen in media in a while. bonus points for the satisfying ending. team chicken dinner on top.

“I saw how you run.”

from beginning to end this show manages to keep you hooked with the nonstop medical action that happens in each episode as we watch baek kang-hyuk and his team gradually expand the trauma unit’s influence not only in the hospital, but in the country. both the physical and verbal comedy in this are top-notch and balance out both the depressing and heartwarming moments well, as the team is faced with the struggles of money-hungry bosses and severely injured patients. seeing the characters develop, in particular han yu-rim and yang jae-won, was straight up beautiful as they become such vital members of kang-hyuk’s team. all of the moments that they experience, from saving the life of someone dear to some of the characters to the malpractice investigation, all lead up to the final surgery which makes me bawl my eyes out every single time. seeing how far the team has come and how they all work together makes for the perfect finale right before we see how much the trauma center has changed from the start of the season. a story that encourages the viewer to fight against the odds whenever possible and to always do what’s right, not what’s expected, makes this one of my favorites for the underlying message alone.

“Today I am… the happiest guy in this school!”

a very popular kdrama and for good reason. with a heartwarming cast that exhibits the closeness of a bunch of rowdy and unserious high schoolers, aouad lives up to its title as we slowly watch the characters we fall in love with sacrifice themselves for the people they care for. all the deaths are meaningful in their own ways and the ongoing conflict between gwinam and cheongsan was always entertaining and stressful. the origin of the zombies is well thought out and explained overtime throughout the show as we see clips of lee byeong-chan’s video diary. despite the impending doom that looms over our characters as zombies continue to close in on them in hyosan high school, they never lose heart and always manage to laugh even when all hope seems lost. practically infinite rewatchability as im writing this on what has to be my fourth, and the scenes hit just as hard as the first time i watched them. the side plots get a little boring at times but the main events more than make up for it. the zombie choreography and the way the actors move also makes watching this really fun because we see them practically bouncing off the walls. i’ve been a firm believer of the cheongsan is still alive theory since day one and i hope that with the announcement of the season two cast i’m proved right.
