i haven't watched this one yet, but i know that the story is based on the same historical figures that yanxi palace was based on, only from a different point of view - it's from the point of view of the second empress, so it will have some similarities to yanxi palace but i don't think it's the same story since yanxi palace brought in a lot of fictional things
