The pace of this series was painful. It takes way too long to get to where you know it's heading, then gives you a tiny taste of that story and ends. The acting and overall plots are great....I wish I could have actually enjoyed watching this. I found myself fast-forwarding and looking at my phone for large chunks of time, knowing that even missing large segments of content wouldn't matter. The first 3/4 of this series needed some momentum, plot twists or lighthearted moments.

I have to emphasize that I totally get including serious / realistic subject matter in romantic drama...and I prefer it...but I want some warning if it's violent / abusive. Also, someone on here mentioned the topic of the toxic parent, and how ones family of origin can ruin their life / relationship etc....I just think that if you are going to include those issues....and also aim to wrap it up as a romance, it needs to be actually dealt with and named within the plot. I can see how content from countries like South Korea are beginning to include actual commentary on real societal issues, at a snails pace much like in the US....so I hope they continue that but get better at doing it responsibly.

I watched this after having watched One Spring Night. TLDR: One Spring Night is significantly better, and much more enjoyable to watch. The plots of the two are very similar and even have a lot of the same actors, There should be major trigger warnings on this series for domestic abuse / assault, stalking, parent-child abuse and substance abuse...take the workplace harassment tag seriously, that plot line was so hard to handle. Also, I don't feel like any of those issues were handled well within this plot, making it even more difficult to stomach. The first half of the series was really great, which was what made the second half even harder to stomach. It was non-stop with cringe worthy moments, depressing, enraging, and disappointing. It was too heavy and dark for too long, I had to really push through the last episodes. I don't think I could watch another series with Son Ye Jin as a FL after this after watching her play such a pitiful and frustrating lead, or with the woman who played her mother bc that character is going to give me nightmares. Also there are SO many of the same actors in this as One Spring Night, which made me even more glad I watched it first. It also didn't help that "Stand By Your Man" played throughout every episode, as it is a song sung by an artist who was a well known victim of serious and repeated domestic abuse. My advice: watch the first half and then dream about what you wish were to happen with the rest....or just watch One Spring Night and leave it at that.
One of the best series I've ever watched. I was really surprised at how hilarious this was at times, yet it still managed to bring tears to my eyes at others. The acting is 10/10. I wasn't expecting the majority of this series to be as light and fun as it was.

I enjoyed this series. I initially stayed hooked bc of Yang Se Jong, but eventually the storyline caught me and I finished the entire season. I liked that it was a mixture of light and heavy, and I feel like it handled the subplots of the chef / writer identities well.

Compelling story, impeccable acting, really well cast. This film wasn't BL to me, which is a good thing. It was more of an LGBTQ+ drama, and one that had an impact on me. The mood to this film is understated and soothing even though the subject matter is deep and painful at times. As someone from the US, I don't know much about the real lives of queer people living in places like Japan. I like dramas and BL, but I crave a dose of reality and this film is executed that perfectly. I felt like I was getting a real vision into a Japanese modern queer narrative.

One of the best series / films I've ever seen. The entire series Pornographer / Mood Indigo / Playback.....were all amazing in both storytelling and acting. It's all so erotic, without losing substance. This may have even been my favorite installment, though I LOVE Izuka so I can't actually settle on this as my fav. The sex scenes in this are maybe the hottest I've ever seen. The acting, casting, directing, editing were all perfect....and as a queer person this was one of my all time top favorite cinematic stories. Watch this, and then watch the rest of the series. Addictive.

I'm so glad we got to see this portion told as a full on film. I'm in the US and I hope this gains more of an audience here!
