Ended up reading the book and rewatching the show and that was my introduction to the world of BL.

I'm not even sure I'd call him calm, more like outwardly composed.

No, no it's not useful. All it does it make people think you are insane. Hate causes hate. Violence breeds violence. Speaking of 'breeds' you do know gay people can have children, right? I am the daughter of one such. Please go take a nice bubble bath and learn to care about humanity.

I love female leads, it's just a very specific kind of character I hate and I'd hate it just as much if it were a dude. The prevalence of kick ass female leads is what drew me to Korean and Chinese dramas in the first place.

I found it confusing too, it wasn't very well explained or maybe it's a translation thing.

I am so not a fan of dubbing in general but most specifically the helium girl voice. It makes me want to stab my eardrums. She's already getting slightly less annoying (22 in now).

Thanks for the feedback. I'm only on episode 8 but enough people seem to love it that I'm probably going to tough it out. Yes, I think a lot of it is the dubber, I recognized it pretty quickly.

It's not the sweetness or lack of senses that bothers me, it's the squeaky voice and doofy immature airhead-ness. I know many people find it endearing but I'm not one of them. Generally though these sorts of characters only act that way through the first section of a show and then start to mature. I'm fully prepared to keep watching as long as I know it's not going to be 59 episodes of whatever the Chinese version of ditzy aegyo is. I like smart FLs. Thanks!

How many episodes before the FL is past her infantilized stage? I know many of these kinds of shows have the FL go through a childish phase in the beginning but this one is really annoying me for some reason.

Is that the only book she wrote about these characters? I read it all (ALL) but it feels like there are so many unexplored stories and breadcrumbs so it left me wondering if its a longer series that just hasn't been translated yet. Some sources seem to suggest there are 4 or 5 books in the series but I wasn't sure if that was the case of if the translation on the site contains them all just under the same title.

You really have to get past the first section of Ten Miles to really appreciate it (imo). It takes a good long while to get going but once it does it really does. Also try The Story of Ming Lan, again it takes a while for the main pairing to kick in but it's a wonderful build up and a much more realistic feeling relationship in some ways than most dramas.

The dubbing. Gawd, the dubbing. I can deal with and actually enjoy the silly fluffiness of a show like this but WHY oh WHY do they have to have grown adult women squealing like five year old meth addicts in place of normal teenage girl voices? It's incomprehensible.
