There was a scene of Jialou and Lihua where her daughter asked her if she could choose between Yang Jian and Yuwen Yong again, she replied neither. She didn't get the life she want to and got cheated by her husband. Although he regret it, he still he broke his promise and he kept on making empty promises. It's sad that he just only realized it in the end.
This is the series is where you realized not everything you watched is a fairytale. Everyone sacrificed their love it's either for power or filial piety. But no one gets the happy ending. Contentment is the key (lol). Anyways, this has me cried many times and in every aspect. Even those guys who loved the Dugu sisters, I kept on hoping that atleast one of them should keep their promise but ended up disappointed. Lol. Though Mantou deserved what she got. She didn't have the ending I hoped for but she was humiliated a number of times and everytime it satisfies me BIG TIME. The actress did a great job! I find myself giggling everytime she whine and pout (what's wrong with me?) It's hard for me how good every character but I'll surely Mantou's mouth. ;) :D
It should be Ye Xiao Xiao in the poster above instead of Ming Yue. He has alot of screen time and helped alot. The bromance of those three are soo cute. One of the Best Chinese Costume Drama of 2020 indeed.
I need Junjie and Crystal in another drama as a main couple. Their chemistry is too great. I like their love quarrels in this series, no matter how mature the ML is, he's still not perfect as it seems to be. Well, aside from his illness I think he's too perfect.
