Understand where you are coming from and agree at that point of time LBY was all out for her. I am of the view she was not merely taking for granted of his love but she is at the crossroad of if this is what I am in for.

From the onstart, she just wanted a carefree life - to run off to a safe haven away from control. Independant of anyone else. Also to add, no one thought she was good enough based on her demeanour, upbringing and education. So here comes prince charming whom everyone says is perfect and has no lack of suitors saying she is perfect and the only one he will marry. Surely she would have her own reservations. Her reservations went beyond just the voices of the crowd which i doubt mattered. But the voices of her own parents and also herself. She knows her weakness and she needs to first accept herself before she could be confident in accepting the fact someone of power and status will be her husband. I believe she tried when she was nice to the CP n wife n Empress. But soon after she realised more drama ensued and she also realised how hidden LBY life was and way too complicated. To me, it was coming to the eureka moment of yes this "pseudo prince" is real to me and I am willing to give my all for him through thick and thin what come may.

Thereafter we need to salute our gal, after accepting LBY, she was one tracked mind - to the extent even when someone was after her life, she simply swallowed n resolved it herself without implicating LBY. She simply had no return, she was all out to protect her love be it the Empress or LBY. This will be proven later when she protected LBY after his revenge. I doubt she would wana break the engagement if she hadn't heard it first hand that LBY wanted it off.

So here we have LBY knowing his grand revenge plan (perhaps planned it all his life) might cost him his life yet he pursued CSS all the way. To the point where he promised he would never leave her and assured that she could depend on him completely. Was that true love? Perhaps finding a lover or in this case, CSS, was never in his life goals/plans but upon seeing her with her family at lantern festival, he suddenly found a glimpse of hope to his hidden bitter life. Perhaps buried deep within, he was yearning to love and for love as well - he had a family he could return to but no longer now.

So who is deserving of whom - this is up to the imperfectly perfect couple coz at the end of day, perhaps LBY needed CSS to bring him out of the misery he was in all his life. On another hand, CSS needed him to understand and live life beyond herself.

Was the relationship worth pursuing then? Yes! Else we wouldnt have drama to watch!!! And this discussion!!! 🥰😍😅
