As a fan of both dramas, I feel like it just depends on what you are looking for (something lighthearted vs mature). Every drama is different and has a different audience.
Personally, when watching this drama I am not looking for something deep or something scary. All this is meant to be is a romcom, and the visuals and chemistry make you want to watch it more. (a lot of people tend to drop drama bc they do not like the lead).
It is human to be attracted to something stunning, but the drama being funny and entertaining is also important. Visuals are not the only reason these dramas have been ranked high because a lot of dramas have good visuals but have not been able to overall maintain their ratings because the plot simply sucked. These dramas have managed to keep it lighthearted and manage to keep me and others entertained.
On the other hand, the visuals and pacing for TMTYLM are very different. The visuals are also very stunning and I find the chemistry to be beautiful. The drama itself is very meaningful. Although, it's not as popular does not mean it is not as good, just that it has a different audience and that many people are not looking for something as mature and more towards something light-hearted (which is okay). Also, some people just might not like the pacing as well.

That's amazing MD is doing so well! But the amount of times I have been hated or seen other people hated on other dramas is so ridiciously.. like what!? I just decided to ignore it and move on but it gets really frustrating when your just tryiing to express your opinion but then they start hating on MD or comparing it on MD like bro I am not even talking to you or about MD so why do you keep bringing it up? (haters are fans too ig) lmao.
I don't understand why people keep blaming my demon or attacking people who watch and like my demon for not liking other drama. Like all of a sudden, I am not allowed to have opinions on things because I like my demon and have rated it high? Or that I am "lying" about the drama because I like my demon? Like what the f@ck? I have never seen so much hatred towards a drama and people getting pressed about someone like a drama because they think it's "silly".
Get a grip, people can have different opinions of different things on genre, acting skills (everyone going to have a different preference for acting based on the drama and what they feel for it), etc.
Just ignore it and move on. I put my opinion after I watch the drama and I am so tired of people being rude because I have a different opinion like bruh.

Not that you know my taste lmao. I was expecting more horror and thriller, it wasn't scary enough for me; something like stranger things, train to Busan, mouse etc.
