oh wow I didn't think about it from Keying's perspective. Things did come full circle in a way with Keying and Yuelou. Also, Yuelou was ready to do anything to get rid of opium and he managed his goal but of course something that evil demanded the biggest sacrifice from him.
So yes, it is poetic in that extreme angsty sort of way. You know when I was watching the beginning of the show, the angst fan in me was like "the perfect angsty ending would be if the doctor dies" and then later that ending happened and I was like "ok they really did that T-T... and omg I shouldn't have thought that at the start -_-
About MZJ acting...his acting was so good in the ending scene... the way he can't come to believe it is real and falls apart as if his world just ended... can't forget it you are right!!

Yeah I think the real villains are mgtv. They sat on this great series for so long, did the worse job editing it, didn't promote it, and they also wouldn't let the drama team change the ending....

Yeah with all the alternative endings, I am just pretending the actual sad ending didn't happen.... like it all ended at such a dark note. But I guess when I am in the mood of extreme angst, I know what to watch XD

You know, I watched the drama and had the same reaction as you. Was wondering why it wasn't popular and whether I was crazy for thinking it was such a good one. I started looking at different platforms and created an account here to increase the ratings (because the drama and actors deserve better ratings imo). In the process, I have found my fellow KaHolics and feel so happy to talk to them all about it.

ohh you should watch 911. It is quite good! :) Don't want to spoil but it is not clear if the character is dead or not (the latest episode ended with the traumatic scene with my otp reaching for each other...) but I am going to hope they don't kill one of the major characters.
