There must be a combination of good plot+ popularity for "huge blockbuster " like "joy of life" i am pretty sure if ancient love played by any big stars then it might go down history..such a gorgeous plot and acting..but it did not!!!why??because here we have only the good plot..not famous actors...thats why yangzis lates drama with xu kai (with mediocre)becomes kind of more successful than this masterpiece..... So become blockbuster of history,you also need famous actors..not a single angela babys work all these years even close to good plot..and her acting is not up to the mark..how can she deliver huge blockbuster??thats a common sense,mate....
As for liuliang,i kind og agree with you..but the leads here are definitely not the high level as such yang yang,zhou lusi etc...you can say they are very new in this trend....
