the house that ya en has is something that her family left for her. it has nothing to do with her husband. i feel like it's unreasonable to say he wasn't a bad husband just bc he didnt start hitting her again (saying again bc the reason she wanted to divorce him in the first place is bc he was physically abusive). he showed constant signs of being controlling and shallow before he became outwardly abusive for the audience to actually see. however, i do agree with your initial point. it was kind of odd that kairan pulled a knife on ye meng even though he claimed to be in love with her for years
