Your sequence is wrong, she exists because past timeline happened; she can cease to exist if she makes it such that mom does not get together with dad under any condition; she is not stupid to not have accounted for the fact that if mom is already in the US and so is her dad...then her staying here is meaningless...she can't stop her mom and dad; also, the way she says she spent money on the flight ticket... hints more to that she time traveled on purpose unlike ML who time traveled by mistake

The comparison I have seen has mostly been about Hira and Yoh in how their personalities are. However, the essence of the story and the main focus point of the story are different in both cases. The other male characters in the relationship are not at all alike.
