they retain their culture. drama is telling a story and as long as that story is immersive, it will find its audience.
Also, it is utterly stupid to propagate an idea that a society does not or should not evolve.

There is a very interesting motif this drama chose. I am going to credit/blame scriptwriter for that.
The one thing common amongst most fairytales and a point of modern day criticism is that it always ends with the factor of someone or both leads being filthy rich - it is either a handsome prince, or a long lost princess, or a cursed prince... or rags to riches because a common person/poor person with all the miseries in the world finds irrevocable, ultimate loyal, and obsessive (if you look closely) love from the rich, powerful counterpart

1. SFL - met a guy, fell for him, guy did not respond and soon she met another rich guy and got into a relationship. Never once thought of breaking up given she didn't really like new bf.. and she still had feelings for ML (ep1) .... but she continues because she is associated with someone who comes from a rich, famous family
Then, she meets a young guy.... scriptwriter makes sure that FL is aware of this new guy's financial background before anything happens
2. FL's assistant - it was never a story of a loyal assistant of a poor girl trying to build her life from scratch. The guy showed undying loyalty to his noona... but then we do learn that noona comes from a filthy rich family... and now things make sense as to why this guy is following noona since so many years, why is he loyal etc... ... still a rich people and their miseries story
3. ML - all said and done, drama established very very quickly that ML is filthy rich
4. FL - establishes that FL is born into money... scriptwriter chose not brains, not career, not personality...nothing but money to show that FL is still a catch!.. infact more so because SFL doesn't come from rich family

In every couple, money is a very subtle qualifying criteria. The way scriptwriter introduces it for each person in the story, she is making a statement - "Oh, ofcourse they are rich so now they are a highly qualified valuable opponent and not a rebound love or someone one merely settles for"
I don't know how many people caught that in the drama... or felt it while watching it... but it is either a spoof and commentry on fairytales... or a commentary on women or love stories in general... and how big a hidden factor financial status is!

My scene stealer in the whole show was the japanese actor - totally overshadowed everyone
KSH is good as always.. but i am pleasantly surprised that japanese guy was this good
SFL - so good.. use her instead of that actress (she was SFL in recently ended moonlight drama with taeho and kpop idol girl, produce 101 girl)
really perfect for a winter warm binge watch drama with a cup of coffee..

Not exemplary or anything.. but think HBO Christmas movies (completely predictable storyline, beautiful scenery, good looking actors, overall no big villains but family stories, okish acting)... that's the kind of feel
RSB has known that white guy is fake from the beginning because he messed up on sthg tea leaves related. She once commented how his assistant knows nothing about tea leaves.
