yeah i think that, like you said, at first they believed that the future/present would have to change if hyun jae stayed but yeah, at the end they used the avengers one basically lol in doctor who too it's like this, if i remember correctly

there are two hyun jae, one that continued to live in 1994 and then disappeared because of the illness and the 1993 hyung jae that was swept away to the future! the 1993 hyung jae is like a "copy" of himself, in a way ? it's kind of complicated to explain tbh but it's a common trope for this type of tv shows
