And attacked others as well. So why don't you demand the same respect from them as you demand from others? The rest of what you see is the result of their behaviour here.

But ML not giving a shit about his dead brother by the end of story was a failure.

I respect writers for an attempt to make something original, but the realisation of it was bad.
